Tom Silverstein of the Milwaukee Journal-Sentinel reports the Green Bay Packers have placed cornerback Josh Bell on injured reserve with a foot injury.

First-year linebacker Maurice Simpkins was signed to take his place on the 80-man training camp roster.

Simpkins, 27, played his college ball at Coastal Carolina. The 6-3, 236-pound Simpkins recently completed a season with the Green Bay Blizzard of the Indoor Football League, where Simpkins was named the league's "Most Improved Player" for 2010.
