Though no official announcement from the NFL has been made, Washington Redskins linebacker Brian Orakpo will be making a return trip to the Pro Bowl, John Keim of the Washington Examiner reports.
Two of the three outside linebackers on the NFC squad, Clay Matthews (Green Bay) and Lance Briggs (Chicago), are playing in this Sunday’s NFC Championship Game, meaning one of them will be too busy preparing to play in Super Bowl XLV to participate in the league’s annual All-Star Game.
Orakpo, who made the Pro Bowl as a rookie, is a first alternate at outside linebacker after totaling 56 tackles and 8.5 quarterback sacks in 15 games in 2010.
The NFC will need to replace five Pro Bowlers if the Packers win, and four, including two linebackers, if the Bears advance. Of course, all could be replaced if players bow out with injuries after the title game.
Meanwhile, up to 7 AFC Pro Bowlers, including both centers, may need to be replaced next Monday.
