National Guard Gets Involved in Vikings-Saints Battle Again
By admin
On Friday, New Orleans Saints head coach Sean Payton ordered safety Darren Sharper to cease fire in his Twitter war with Minnesota Vikings tight end Visanthe Shiancoe, who had taken it to the next level this week when, during a post-practice visit to a nearby National Guard base, he took target practice at a picture of Osama bin Laden in a #42 jersey with "I'm Darren Sharper" written in a nearby quote bubble.
Sharper had suggested that the defense would go after Vikings quarterback Brett Favre's surgically-repaired ankle, which touched off the social media silliness Payton sought to end.
Saturday morning, while the Saints were stretching before their morning practice session, defensive end Will Smith got some target advice from Capt. Josh Culp of the Louisiana National Guard, who was in the bleachers watching practice during a rare day off assisting in the clean-up from the oil spill in the Gulf of Mexico.
"Hey, Will!" Culp shouted, according to James Varney of The Times-Picayune. "You gotta hit Brett Favre for me!
"That's right, get that old man out of the game!", Culp added.
