The Detroit Lions have signed first-year running back Ian Johnson their practice squad.
Signed by the Minnesota Vikings as an undrafted free agent out of Boise State in 2009, Johnson had 48 carries for 155 yards and 3 touchdowns, and 10 receptions for 84 yards, during two pre-seasons with the Vikings.
Johnson spent all of last season, including playoffs, on the Vikings’ practice squad. Waived again by the Vikings at the end of the 2010 training camp, Johnson spent the first month of this season on the Arizona Cardinals practice squad.
Since his release from the Cardinals, Johnson has been working as a motivational speaker in Boise while he awaited his next NFL opportunity.
Wide receiver Michael Moore has been released from the Lions’ practice squad to add Johnson.
