L.T. Pleads Not Guilty to Rape Charge

Hall of Fame linebacker had date in court on Monday.

New York Giants Hall of Fame linebacker Lawrence Taylor has plead not guilty to statutory rape and solicitation charges in Rockland County Court, ESPN's Jane McManus reports.

Taylor allegedly paid $300 to a 16-year old runaway from the Bronx for an encounter in an upstate New York hotel room in May.

Arthur Aidala, Taylor's attorney, entered the not guilty pleas to charges of third-degree rape, patronizing a prostitute, sexual abuse and endangering a child. Judge William Nelson extended the protection order against Taylor.

"Hopefully it don't go that far," Taylor said when asked if he was looking forward to his day in court.

Per McManus, Taylor isn't due back in court until August 24.
