New York Jets head coach Rex Ryan announced that quarterback Mark Sanchez will start on Sunday against the Buffalo Bills.
Ryan added that how much Sanchez will play is unknown.
Sanchez has a slight cartilage tear in his right shoulder, and with a potential short-week of preparations before the Wild Card round of the playoffs, resting Sanchez on Sunday would have some benefit for the Jets.
“I always want to play,” Sanchez said on Wednesday. “I just want to be smart with my shoulder (and make sure) that nothing slips in my week of practice in my preparation and film study. If it were up to me, I’d see how it feels on Sunday first before I did anything.
“I just want to be ready for the playoffs.”
