Jaguars Sign 3rd Round DT D'Anthony Smith

The Jacksonville Jaguars have signed third-round defensive tackle D'Anthony Smith to a four-year contract.

According to a league source ,the Jacksonville Jaguars have signed third-round defensive tackle D'Anthony Smith to a four-year contract.

Smith's four-year deal is worth $2.64 million dollars, and included an $858,000 signing bonus and a fourth-year escalator that can increase the value of Smith's contract to $3.381 million.

The 6-2, 300-pound Smith started 44 of his 49 games at Louisiana Tech, totaling 197 tackles, including 24 for a loss and 12 quarterback sacks. Smith also snared an interception as a true freshman.

Smith earned first-team All-WAC honors after his junior and senior seasons.

One of four defensive linemen to be picked by the Jaguars in the 2010 NFL Draft—Tyson Alualu, Smith, Austen Lane, and Larry Hart—Smith is expected to be part of the team’s tackle rotation as a rookie, playing behind 2009 third-round pick Terrance Knighton
