Harbaugh to the Niners

Stanford head coach Jim Harbaugh is expected to agree to a five-year contract with the San Francisco 49ers, ESPN's Adam Schefter reports.

The 49ers announced a 3:30pm PT press conference at the Palace Hotel.

Harbaugh interviewed with the 49ers at a secret location on Wednesday, and met with the Miami Dolphins and Stanford on Thursday. The Dolphins opted not to offer Harbaugh a contract, instead retaining head coach Tony Sparano. The Denver Broncos, who were reportedly interested in Harbaugh for their head coaching position, decided to go in a different direction.

Stanford quarterback Andrew Luck decided on Thursday to return to school for a fourth year, which may have piqued Harbaugh's interest in holding off on the NFL for another season.

That does not appear to be the case, as Harbaugh will sign a five-year, $25 million contract, Schefter adds.
