Falcons Norwood, Koenen Sign RFA Tenders

Atlanta Falcons restricted free agents Jerious Norwood and Michael Koenen have signed their one-year tenders, the last two of the club's six restricted free agents to do so.

Both players were tendered at the "Second Round" level, but due to a difference in accrued seasons, will have different base salaries in 2010. With four accrued seasons, Norwood will earn $1.759 million dollars this season. Koenen, who has five accrued seasons, will earn $2,731,300 in 2010, 110% of his base salary in 2009, which he played under the one-year franchise tag.

Norwood was the Falcons' third-round pick in 2006, and has 1,987 yards and 7 touchdowns, along with 95 receptions for 903 yards and 3 touchdowns out of the backfield over the last four seasons. Norwood has also averaged 25.5 yards per kick return and, when healthy, is a dangerous player in the open field

Koenen is an undrafted free agent from Western Washington University who has averaged 37.7 yards per punt over the last five seasons, putting 121 of his 366 punts inside the opponents' 20-yard line. The strong-legged Koenen has hit on 4 of his 13 field goal attempts, including 2 of 7 from 50+ yards out. As a kickoff specialist, Koenen has 83 career touchbacks, with a career-high 28 coming during the 2009 season.
