The Philadelphia Eagles announced the signing of kick returner Gerard Lawson.
A 5-10, 195-pound cornerback from Oregon State, Lawson has returned 8 kicks for 115 yards, one punt for 4 yards, and posted three tackles on special teams in 20 games with the Cleveland Browns between 2008-09.
After averaging 23.5 yards per kick return for the pre-season, the Browns waived Lawson following an August arrest for DUI.
Lawson played for the Hartford Colonials of the United Football League this Fall, and made headline when an opportunity to join the New York Jets was thwarted by the UFL’s $150,000 transfer fee.
The Eagles had an open roster spot after placing rookie cornerback/return specialist Jorrick Calvin on injured reserve.
