Dolphins Waive CB Jason Allen

To add Al Harris to the 53-man roster, the Miami Dolphins have placed cornerback Jason Allen on waivers.

The 16th overall pick of the 2006 NFL Draft out of the University of Tennessee, the 6-1, 213-pound Allen has 172 tackles and 8 interceptions in 69 games with the Dolphins.

Allen won the starting right cornerback job this season, starting the first seven games of the season before being replaced by 2009 second-round pick Sean Smith, who did an excellent job of shutting down perennial Pro Bowler Anquan Boldin on Sunday.

Allen is signed through 2011. Any team that claims him will pick up nearly $600,000 in base salary this season and at least $980,000 in 2011.
