Miami Dolphins punter Brandon Fields and long-snapper John Denney were entering the final years of their current contracts, but David Neal of the Miami Herald reports that both have received multi-year contract extensions.
Fields was scheduled to earn $850,000 in 2010, the final year of his rookie contract, but will now earn $598,000 this season, with base salaries of $726,000 in 2011 and $864,000 in 2012.
Denney's $635,000 base salary for 2010 remains intact, but he is now signed through the 2013 season. Denney will earn $700,000 in 2011, with salaries of $835,000 (2012) and $860,000 (2013) awaiting him in future years.
These extensions come to light one day after the Dolphins signed inside linebacker Tim Dobbins to a two-year contract extension that included $3.076 million dollars in guaranteed money. Dobbins, a special teams standout for the San Diego Chargers the last four season, can earn up $9.776 million dollars over the next three seasons, a league source said.
