Dolphins Make Quarterback Change

Miami Dolphins head coach Tony Sparano named veteran Chad Pennington the starting quarterback from this point forward during his Wednesday press conference.

ProFootballTalk.com reported earlier on Wednesday that rumors of a quarterback change were circulating through the Dolphins' locker room.

"At this particular time as I look ahead, my decision is Chad Pennington's strengths are a little bit better suited for where we need to be right now," Sparano said, adding that the decision to change quarterbacks was not an indictment on Henne's future with the club.

Henne hasn't played poorly--he's completed 63.5% of 277 pass attempts for 1,900 yards and 8 touchdowns this season--but he has struggled with turnovers the last few weeks. Under normal circumstances, a coaching staff would live with those mistakes from a developing quarterback, but the Dolphins would much rather have a steady veteran under center, particularly an impeccably accurate passer like Pennington.
