Jason La Canfora of the NFL Network reports that Darren Sharper's one-year deal with the New Orleans Saints has a total value of $2.575 million dollars.

According to La Canfora, Sharper received a $75,000 signing bonus, and will earn $1.5 million dollars in base salary. An additional $1M is available via roster bonuses.

Sharper likely has a "per game" roster bonus component in his contract, where a player may earn x-amount for each game they're on the 45-man active roster. For example, Player A receives a $31,250 per game roster bonus, which over a 16-game season, comes out to $500,000. Bonuses like this are frequently used in contracts for older players, or players who are recovering from a serious injury or surgery.

Sharper, 34, had microfracture surgery on his knee this off-season.
