The Dallas Cowboys announced that second-year linebacker Jason Williams has been placed on waivers.
A third-round pick (69th overall) out of Western Illinois in 2009, Williams totaled six tackles in 10 games over the last two seasons. Five of Williams’ tackles were as a member of the Cowboys’ special teams units.
The 6-1, 241-pound Williams was viewed as a developmental pass-rusher after posting 15 quarterback sacks and 46.5 tackles for loss during his college career.
Williams was the first player the Cowboys selected in the ’09 draft, and is signed through the 2012 season at league minimum base salaries, with $176,800 remaining guaranteed.
