Cowboys Sign TE Martin Rucker Off Practice Squad

Calvin Watkins of ESPNDallas.com reports the Dallas Cowboys have signed tight end Martin Rucker off the practice squad.

Tight end Scott Chandler, who has 0 catches in 9 games, has been waived.

Rucker was a fourth-round pick (111th overall) by the Cleveland Browns in 2008. In five games, including one start, Rucker has two receptions for 17 yards.

After being waived by the Browns during the 2009 season, Rucker was added to the Eagles’ practice squad. Waived by the Eagles on August 9, Rucker was awarded to the Tampa Bay Buccaneers, where he failed his physical.

Dallas, who had placed a claim on Rucker when he was awarded to Tampa, signed Rucker when injuries hit their tight end group. In two pre-season games, Rucker caught four passes for 37 yards before he was cut on September 4.

Dallas re-signed Rucker to their practice squad on September 5.
