Court Docs Allege Packers DE Jolly "Bought, Sold" Drugs

In their attempt to prove that Green Bay Packers restricted free agent defensive end Johnny Jolly was actively involved in a drug ring, Harris County Assistant District Attorney Todd Keagle filed a notice stating that Jolly "bought, sold, funded, transported and aided in the buying, selling, funding and transportation of illegal narcotics including cocaine and marijuana" between 2006 and 2008, Greg Bedard and Ken Fountain of the Milwaukee Journal-Sentinel report.

According to the JS, prosecutors intend to produce evidence that Jolly "was seen smoking marijuana and consuming liquid codeine; that Jolly 'showed deception' during a polygraph test this month". Prosecutors reportedly have a witness to Jolly's involvement in the drug trade who is willing to testify, and if convicted, Jolly faces more than 10 years in prison.

"I'm concerned for Johnny Jolly personally," Packers head coach Mike McCarthy said on Wednesday. "He's a member of our football team that's going through a legal situation and we're monitoring it closely, and we'll just continue to support Johnny the best we can."

Jolly, who has yet to sign his one-year tender, which is worth $2.521 million dollars, faces a multi-game suspension, regardless of whether or not he is convicted.

Jolly's frequently delayed trial tentatively begins on Friday.
