According to a league source, the Arizona Cardinals have signed sixth-round cornerback Jorrick Calvin.
Calvin’s four-year deal included signing bonus of over $88,000, and has a maximum value of over $2.6 million dollars.
Calvin started 12 of 13 games at cornerback for Troy University in 2008, totaling 76 tackles and a pair of interceptions, with nine pass break-ups, a forced fumble, and a pair of fumble recoveries. Calvin also handled the return duties, averaging 25.7 yards on 27 kick returns, returning one kick 95 yards for a touchdown. Calvin also averaged 9.9 yards on 15 punt returns, and returned a blocked field goal 65 yards for a touchdown.
Calvin was ruled academically ineligible for the 2009 season.
At Troy’s Pro Day on March 18, the 5-10, 181-pound Calvin ran a 4.46-40, with a vertical leap of 33” and a 9’00” broad jump.
Calvin, the 201st overall pick in this year’s draft, is the second Cardinals’ draft choice to sign a contract, joining seventh-round tight end Jim Dray.
