Cardinals Place T Brandon Keith on IR

The Arizona Cardinals announced that they have placed offensive tackle Brandon Keith on injured reserve.

A seventh-round pick out of Northern Iowa in 2008, Keith (6-5, 335) started all nine games at right tackle for the Cardinals this season after appearing in just four games his first two seasons in the league.

Keith has a third-degree tear of his right hamstring, as well as meniscus damage to his right knee.

Veteran Jeremy Bridges is expected to start at right tackle, and free agent D'Anthony Batiste has been signed to fill Keith's spot on the 53-man roster.

With running backs Beanie Wells (knee), LaRod Stephens-Howling (hamstring), and Jason Wright (concussion) ailing, the Cardinals also announced the signing of running back Alfonso Smith to the practice squad. Smith, an undrafted rookie from the University of Kentucky, led the Cardinals with two rushing touchdowns during the pre-season.

Wide receiver Ed Gant has been released from the practice squad.Ca
