Browns Waive CB John Bowie

According to a league source, the Cleveland Browns have waived cornerback John Bowie.

Famously drafted by the Oakland Raiders in the fourth-round of the 2007 NFL Draft in a pick acquired from the New England Patriots in exchange for Randy Moss, Bowie (5-11, 190) appeared in five games for Oakland over the last three seasons, totaling a pair of special teams tackles before being waived with an injury settlement during the 2009 season.

Bowie, who played his college ball at the University of Cincinnati, signed with the Browns in February and participated in their off-season program. Released so the Browns could sign their 2010 draft class, Bowie was re-signed on August 7 and made one tackle in three pre-season games.

By waiving Bowie, the Browns' roster now stands at 79 and must be reduced to 75 by today's 4pm ET deadline.
