Browns Sign K Shaun Suisham, Waive Leigh Tiffin

With veteran kicker Phil Dawson skipping the "Organized Team Activity" sessions, the Cleveland Browns have added a veteran kicker, signing free agent Shaun Suisham on Tuesday.

Undrafted rookie kicker Leigh Tiffin, signed on Monday, was waived.

In 57 games over five seasons with the Dallas Cowboys (2005-06, 2009) and Washington Redskins (2006-09), Suisham is 87-for-110 (79.1%) on field goal attempts, and 101-for-103 on extra point attempts. Suisham also had brief stints with the San Francisco 49ers and Pittsburgh Steelers, who signed him as an undrafted free agent out of Bowling Green in 2005.

Dawson, the only kicker the Browns have had since re-entering the NFL in 1999, is entering the final year of a six-year, $7.5 million dollar contract that will the 35-year old a $1 million dollar base salary in 2010, a salary that ranks him tied for 22nd among kickers this season.

With another veteran in the fold, Dawson may be afforded an opportunity to earn a higher salary elsewhere.
