Browns Sign FB Joel Gamble

The Cleveland Browns have signed free agent fullback Joel Gamble.

The Cleveland Browns have signed free agent fullback Joel Gamble, reports Adam Caplan of FOXSports.com.

Gamble, 27, played his college ball at Shippensburg, and spent several seasons playing for a variety of arena football teams. The 6-2, 255-pound Gamble spent a few weeks on the Philadelphia Eagles practice squad.

Several members of the Browns personnel department, including general manager Tom Heckert, were with the Eagles organization last season.

Gamble becomes the third fullback on the Browns' roster, behind Lawrence Vickers and Peyton Hillis. His signing brings the Browns up to 75 signed players, with five unsigned 2010 draft picks.

UPDATE: Caplan notes that the Browns are listing Gamble as a fullback, which is interesting in that they have Ben Watson, Robert Royal, Evan Moore, and Alex Smith under contract.

Gamble caught 41 passes for 631 yards and 5 touchdowns in the Red Raiders' Wing-T offense.
