Browns S Abe Elam Has No Hard Feelings

In a blog entry on his website, Cleveland Browns safety Abe Elam expressed that he had no hard feelings towards the organization.

"I signed my tender last Monday so I'll still be a Browns this season. There won’t be any hard feelings," Elam wrote. "I hope the fans understand that the NFL is a business and as a professional you have to understand the business part of the game. I’m happy to have a job and be able to play for one of the great football towns in Cleveland. I’m just excited to get back to work and hopefully I can help us turn things around and win some games for the greatest fans in the league."

Acquired as part of a package from the New York Jets to trade up in the 2009 NFL Draft to draft quarterback Mark Sanchez, Elam started 16 games for the Browns, leading the team with 89 tackles. Elam added a quarterback sack, forced fumble, and a pair of pass break-ups, and is scheduled to start alongside 2010 second-round pick T.J. Ward this upcoming season.

Elam, who entered the NFL as an undrafted free agent out of Kent State in 2005, was denied entry to unrestricted free agency this off-season because of the uncapped year, and skipped the Browns' OTAs and mini-camp. Tendered at the "Second-Round" level, Elam will earn a non-guaranteed base salary of $1.759 million dollars this upcoming season.
