Browns QB Colt McCoy Lends Name to Fundraising Effort

Former Texas Longhorns trigger puller lends assistance to help build children's hospital.

Cleveland Browns third round quarterback Colt McCoy is teaming with Scott & White Healthcare to help raise $50 million dollars to build a children's hospital in Temple, Texas, KWTX.com reports.

The funds would be used to renovate King's Daughters Hospital into the only children's hospital between Dallas and Austin.

"Children and their families will no longer have to drive great distances to receive the highest standard of care," McCoy said. "It’s my privilege to lend my support in making this children’s hospital a reality for so many people in my home state."

McCoy was a record-setting quarterback at the University of Texas in Austin, and a Heisman Trophy runner-up in 2008. The 85th overall pick of the 2010 NFL Draft has yet to sign his first NFL contract, but in addition to his fund-raising efforts, has picked up an endorsement deal.
