Browns Place P Dave Zastudil on IR

Cleveland Browns punter Dave Zastudil has been placed on injured reserve, head coach Eric Mangini said on Tuesday.

Zastudil missed the final eight games of the 2009 season after tearing the patellar tendon in his right knee. The left-footed Zastudil sat out the OTAs and mini-camp to rest his plant leg, and had been taking it slow at the beginning of training camp.

Zastudil visited a specialist in Colorado last week, who recommended he rest the knee for several weeks before being re-evaluated prior to the regular season.

The 31-year old was a fourth-round pick (112th overall) out of Ohio University by the Baltimore Ravens in 2002, and was entering the final year of a five-year, $8 million contract he signed with the Browns in 2006.

Reggie Hodges replaced Zastudil last season, and remains on the 80-man roster.
