Browns NT Shaun Rogers to be Placed in 12-Month Diversion Program

Defensive lineman required to attend course and do community service as part of his arraignment.

During his arraignment this Thurday on concealed weapons charges in Cuyahoga Common Pleas Court, Cleveland Browns nose tackle Shaun Rogers will be placed in a 12-month diversion program, Mary Kay Cabot of the Cleveland Plain-Dealer reports.

Rogers was arrested on April 1 after having a loaded .45-caliber firearm in his carry-on bag at Cleveland Hopkins International Airport.

Per the report, Rogers will be required to complete a 10-hour weapons course and 40 hours of community service. Once those two requirements are complete, the charges will be dropped.

"Shaun is appreciative of the consideration he received in this case," attorney Patrick D'Angelo said. "He understands this is a serious matter, and he wanted to assure everyone that he did not act intentionally in this case.

"I'm hopeful and confident that Shaun will complete the program successfully and that this will be expunged from his record."

Rogers is subject to discipline under the NFL's personal conduct policy.
