Browns Agree to Terms With 1st Round CB Joe Haden

Jason La Canfora of the NFL Network reports the Cleveland Browns and first-round cornerback Joe Haden have agreed to terms on a five-year contract.

La Canfora reports the deal has a maximum value of $50 million dollars, and includes $26 million in guarantees.

A starter for his entire three-year career at the University of Florida, the 5-11, 193-pound Haden totaled 218 tackles and 3.5 quarterback sacks in 40 games. Among the 42 passes Haden broke up during his career, eight were interceptions, which he returned for 166 yards combined.

Haden was a unanimous first-team All-American selection after last season, twice earned All-SEC honors (second-team in '08, first-team in '09), and was a finalist for the Jim Thorpe Award.

One of the most impressive cornerbacks in the 2010 NFL Draft, questions swirled about Haden's speed, which had some wondering if he were worth a Top 10 pick. Haden ran a 4.53-40 at the Combine, but silenced doubters when he ran a 4.43-40 during his pro day on March 17.

The Browns traded for veteran Sheldon Brown this off-season, but Haden will push him for a starting job opposite Eric Wright this summer.
