Broncos to Sign LB Akin Ayodele

To fill the void created by the release of Andra Davis earlier this off-season, the Denver Broncos have reached agreement on a contract with veteran linebacker Akin Ayodele, Mike Klis of the Denver Post reports.

Ayodele, 30, was second on the Miami Dolphins in tackles last season with 70, including three for a loss. The Dolphins released Ayodele after signing Karlos Dansby to a $43 million dollar contract on the opening day of free agency.

A third-round pick (89th overall) out of Purdue by the Jacksonville Jaguars in 2002, Ayodele has 630 tackles, 9.5 quarterback sacks, 7 interceptions, and 9 forced fumbles in an 8-year career spent with the Jaguars (2002-05), Dallas Cowboys (2006-07), and Dolphins (2008-09). Ayodele has never missed a game, and has started 104 of 128 games during his career.

Klis adds that Ayodele will compete with Mario Haggans for a starting inside linebacker job.
