The Denver Broncos announced the additions of Ron Milus and Richard Smith to the defensive coaching staff.
Denver announced the hiring of defensive coordinator Dennis Allen on Monday.
Milus will coach the secondary, while Smith will coach the linebackers, just as they had done since joining Broncos head coach John Fox with the Carolina Panthers in 2009
Smith has coached linebackers in the NFL with the Houston Oilers, San Francisco 49ers (1997-2002), Detroit Lions (2003-04), and during a previous stint with the Broncos (1993-96).
Overall, Smith has 23 years of NFL experience, including four seasons as a defensive coordinator with the Miami Dolphins (2005) and Houston Texans (2006-08).
A former cornerback at the University of Washington, Milus entered the NFL coaching ranks with the Broncos in 2000, where he coached defensive backs for three seasons before doing the same with the Arizona Cardinals (2003), New York Giants (2004-05), and St. Louis Rams (2006-08) before landing in Carolina in 2009.
