Minnesota Vikings head coach Brad Childress has released the following statement regarding his decision to place wide receiver Randy Moss on waivers:

"This decision was made based on what we thought was in the best interests of the Minnesota Vikings, both in the short and long term," said Childress. "We wish Randy the best as he moves forward in his career."

Moss will officially land on the NFL's waiver wire on Tuesday.
