The Buffalo Bills announced the signing of third-round defensive end Alex Carrington.
Financial terms were not disclosed.
A 6-5, 285-pound defensive end from Arkansas State, Carrington totaled 146 tackles, including 40.5 for a loss and 21.5 quarterback sacks. Carrington was a three-time All-Sun Belt Conference selection, earning first-team honors after his junior and senior years.
Carrington’s breakout season occurred in 2008, when he posted 53 tackles, 19.5 for a loss, 10.5 quarterback sacks, and one interception as he was named the Sun Belt Conference’s Defensive Player of the Year.
Along with second-round nose tackle Torell Troup, Carrington is a future starter on the Bills’ defensive line, with Carrington projecting to the “5” technique in the team’s 3-4 system.
Carrington is the seventh of the Bills' nine-player 2010 draft class to reach agreement on a contract. First-round running back C.J. Spiller and Troup remain unsigned.
