Bills DE Dwan Edwards Expecting Career Year

Defensive end Dwan Edwards is expecting to have a career year in his first season with the Buffalo Bills.

"I’m expecting to have my best year of my career," Edwards told Bill Bighaus of the Billings Gazette.

"I feel like I can go out there and make a ton of plays," said Edwards. "Just being up there with the guys and getting to know them, I think, especially from a defensive standpoint, we’re going to be so much better than they were last year."

A second-round pick (51st overall) out of Oregon State by the Baltimore Ravens in 2004, Edwards (6-3, 290) has started 23 games over his six-year career, including 9 of 16 games in 2009 after spending the entire 2008 season on injured reserve.

Edwards set a career-high with 47 tackles and posted one quarterback sack last season, and posted 7 tackles and a quarterback sack in the Baltimore's 33-14 win over the New England Patriots in the Wild Card Playoffs.

For his career, Edwards has 119 tackles, two quarterback sacks, and an interception.

After paying free agent visits to the Denver Broncos and Seattle Seahawks, Edwards signed a four-year, $18 million dollar contract with the Bills, where Edwards expects to be a team leader.

"I think they want me to be a leader," said Edwards. "I’m one of the guys that has the most experience with the 3-4, so I want to be the guy that guys can come to if they have questions."
