Bears Sign QB Todd Collins

The Chicago Bears announced the signing of veteran quarterback Todd Collins to a one-year deal.

Financial terms were not disclosed.

Collins, who turns 39 in November, played sparingly as Green's back-up in Kansas City from 2001-05, and has attempted just 674 passes during his 15-year career. A second-round pick (45th overall) out of Michigan in 1995, Collins has passed for 4,479 yards and 22 touchdowns, and has a career passer rating of 76.0.

Collins competed 12-of-23 passes for 144 yards in three games for the 2009 Washington Redskins.

The Bears will announce a corresponding roster move later on Monday.
