Mike Vandermause is calling out us Cheeseheads. I wish I was there to represent. What a great time to get autographs.

That’s because practice was witnessed by between 200 and 300 fans, the smallest turnout this summer. One longtime observer said it was the most sparsely attended training camp practice in 15 years.

Official attendance totals are not recorded, but there’s no question crowds are down this year. Fans numbering in the thousands used to gather for practice but now can be counted in the hundreds.

Ten sets of bleachers along Oneida Street were deserted for the practice that started at 10:45 a.m. and was conducted in perfect weather conditions. By the time practice ended, the gathering dwindled to barely more than 100 diehards.
