Quote
The Green Bay Packers have signed punter Derrick Frost and long snapper Brett Goode and released punter Jon Ryan and linebacker Abdul Hodge. Ted Thompson, Executive Vice President, General Manager and Director of Football Operations, announced the transactions Monday.

Derrick FrostFrost, a fifth-year pro from Northern Iowa, spent the past three seasons with the Washington Redskins (2005-07) after beginning his NFL career with the Cleveland Browns (2004).

-

Brett GoodeGoode originally signed with the Jacksonville Jaguars as a non-drafted free agent in April 2007 and participated in training camp before being released. He re-signed with the Jaguars in March 2008 before his release in June.

What the hell? did we really just release hodge for a Long snapper? wow. I was really excited about hodge this year and I felt like he was gonna be a solid LB. but I guess TT thought that hodge was the best guy to release out of everyone else on the team. great move TT. And whats wrong with Ryan? he has a leg and can punt why did we feel the need to bring in a punter.

Hangtime. Consistency. Thats basically the two things Thompson said in the press conference..consistency is what he said-- he didnt really disagree when hangtime was brought up.

Yeah I agree, why fix somethin that ain't broke? I know that he wasn't the absolute best at punting inside the 20, but it wasn't like he was absolutly terrible either..  ryan was a guy that would make a 3 and out not look as bad by bootin the ball 65 yards down the field. Don't even tell me Frost can do that, I'd rather have those huge punts and a touchback every now in ryan then then a weeker punter and a little bit better of an inside the 20'r ( frost) punter  anyday.

I'm a little upset about hodge too.. Yeah I know that he was a MLB but so what, he was playin OLB at the Tennessee game and wasn't doin that bad, I only saw him miss one tackle outa the whole time the 2nd string D was playin the 1st string Titans. Nick Barnett Did worse than that a couple games ago. And Bishop got way more playing time in the preseason so no wonder hodge got beat out. I saw him play 1 series in the broncos game. 1 series. How do ou make an impression with 1 series. He was lookin solid when he actually got a chance at the bengals game and I guess whoever made the best last impresion was who was gonna make the team.

ted is getting ready for another 15 years of losing. So he can leave once the dumb packer fans notice what the hell he is doing and fire him. Nobody says anything about his actions. They (packer fans) love his moves. next will be Tausher, driver, barnett, clifton, harris, biamila but everyone keep kissing.

Actually I'd say it's about 50/50 with the TT approval.. personally im on the non approval side of all this. Yeah I think your right that he will keep drivin  out vets for his precious draft picks. He traded Corey williams for a 2nd round pick ( Brohm ) which turned out to be a 3rd string QB!!! And now look at our run D. Every team we played this preseason tore us up on the ground.. including the BENGALS!! who would be doin this team more good right now.. Williams or Brohm backin up the backup

Ryan was not that great of a punter. He was a maniac at trick plays and was good at making something out of nothing. He was not great in the cold. Had we not kicked the crap out of seattle- his punts were questionable...nfl questionable.

I know a lot of people that wanted Ryan cut immediately after the Bears game last year.  I thought that was unfair, but this move definitely not out of the blue.

Letting go of hodge disapointed me.  At least trade him you figure you could pick up a DT\DE from somehwere needing LB help ya know?  I liked Ryan bc he has red hair and hes just freakign sweet but im curious about signing a different punter that just got cut by another team.  Who knows, ill let it play out.  Hell maybe this is why they kept bush, If hes not a CB or Safety, maybe he's a punter.

I doubt that the packers coulda gotten anything for hodge, to other teams he's a 3rd year vet with knee surgery who's done jack in his NFL career so far.
and ryan  got cut by the redskins cause they drafted some rookie in the 6th round or somethin like that, and the rookie beat out frost by a couple net yards in the preseason so he got cut.
