I was feeling pretty sick last night, so I got up around 4 a.m. and started browsing around places I don't usually check out. Here's what I ran into.

The Six Pack

1. I thought this was a great article on special teams. Although it's no Carriveau analysis, it highlights just how much Slocum and company contributed to the Packer's loss against the Buccaneers.

2. At least one player from last weeks game was named player of the week.

3. Like I mentioned on my call in to Nagler and company on Cheesehead Nation, I have found myself surprisingly calm at the Packers lackluster season. This alarms me, but I think Donald's Designated Driver sums it up the best when he says, "It is simply impossible for me to care more about a team than the team cares about itself." I could not agree more.

4. It looks like Sweden has come up with a new way to spell Packers. Normally I would be pissed, but things being the way they are that's some funny shit.

5. We all have wondered why there wasn't much of a sense of urgency this off-season in the front office. True Slant, makes a pretty good argument here that, "Simply put, McCarthy and Ted Thompson didn’t expect the Packers to be a contender in 2009." I totally buy into that theory and firmly believe that's why you will at least see Thompson around next year.

6. Finally, there are some Packer fans I would just assume not be associated with. Total Packers highlights a couple of fans that would definitely fit that bill.

1. Special teams kept the game mostly out of reach against the Vikings at Lambeau. Cincy we had quite a few slip-ups as well. For how much emphasis we put on improving special teams with personnel changes, this has been quite the failure.

3. It's just fans are a lot more defeated than last year. We're tired of saying the same crap only now we might be a little worse than last year. One more off-season of dead free agent activity and I am going to start accusing the current regime taking advantage of a loyal fanbase. Hell, they managed it for 25 years. Complacent organizations deserve a fanbase like minneapolis, not Wisconsin.

6. A little too ranty to actually be funny.

1. Don't have the balls to read anything that dissects that game.

2. Don't have the balls to read anything that praises any players from that game.

3. Yeah, I've read that before, and, this time, I agree with DDD. This team lacks fire. Hope with the recent meetings, things turn around.

4. Sweeden... You see what happens when you air the game in a 3rd world Country with a poor educational system?

5. I don't buy that. TT drafted Raji, despite Crabtree being available, and moved up to get Matthews. That was his way of saying "we are contenders". Changing the BPA for the Need factor. But even if they do believe we're still rebuilding, then WTF??? 5 years rebuilding? How longer do these MFs need to assemble a winning team?

6. Agree with Asshalo. Tasteless... to say the least.

5. There are simply WAY too many dumb theories going round. Why would you expect a losing season? Or perhaps more importantly why would you think you'd get away with a losing season? The defense was likely installed because McCarthy felt he had the players to do it and achieve success quickly, not because it would be a project. He may seem stupid, but even McCarthy knows you simply can't rebuild 4 years after you were first brought in.

I don't know why McCarthy bothers turning up to press conferences. He should just stick a sign on the wall the says:

"Please select an answer to your question from the following list:

A) we've gotta clean that up.
B) we'll go back and check the film.
C) week ___ and we just can't make these mistakes.
D) we'll work on that in practice"
