1. According to Greg Bedard yesterday:

“Don’t think I’ve ever seen that before: Tauscher got turned around against Raji in a dline ‘game’ drill”

I asked Greg to clarify that statement a little bit. He did note that Tauscher did not get “man handled,” but had never seen him get turned around in a drill, ever. He said Tauscher looked “surprised.” I hope this a good sign for Raji rather than a bad sign for Tauscher.

3. For all those who hated the Mike Neal pick, I direct you to this Bedard quote:

I don’t have a monster breakdown of this weekends draft. I thought it was boring but solid. However, here are some options to get caught up on all the action, and as always, some other interesting tid-bits.

2. Ryan Pickett and Nick Collins both signed to extensions on the same day? Like I said earlier, I think someone replaced Ted with a blow up Thompson doll. Either way, way to get it done fake Ted.

Unfortunately, the last Packer player has left the NFL playing field for the season. It’s always a sad day when that happens best combated with a fresh six-pack.

I am going to preface this six-pack with the following observation and explanation to people who think this should be a better “news” site. Just for the record I did a google search on the Packers for the last week and as usual the same thing always happens. Your strict Packer news always originates in four spots. The Green Bay Press-Gazette, The Milwaukee Journal, Bill Huber, and Jason Wilde. That’s it folks.

And people wonder why I get pissed when they ask me to give them more news. Here’s some news for you, there isn’t any.

Tone: Slightly bitter for some reason.

1. When I get like this it always seems to come back to Nagler. He wrote a piece on the best quarterback in NFL history. Nagler came to the decision that Johnny Unitas should hold that distinction. Now he may be right, but he has no business making that call especially when the victor is a guy who he never saw play a game in real time.

If you weren’t there to experience both the play and the vibe of the times, you can’t make that judgement. Besides, everyone knows that Joe Montana is the greatest quarterback of all time, period.

2. Packer Ranter has been doing this whole G-Men series equating Packer players to super-type heroes. It’s pretty funny, but I wish they would put them all in one place so I could choose my favorite.

3. If you don’t read Green Bay Packer Nation, you should start. Brady Augustine knows his shit. He usually takes an analytical approach that you almost never see here. This Aaron Rodger’s analysis in right on the money.

4. Where the hell is Jersey Al and Greg C.? If anyone actually misses these guys, let them know in the comment section. For what I pay them, we should be getting some quality articles and analysis here.

5. I picked this one up from the dudes at the x4 forum, one of personal favorites. If you use Hulu, they now have an awesome section of Green Bay Packers video.

6. I will practice a little bit of what I preach here, sort of. Anyway, Packer Chatters has an article about Kurt Warner not really being a hall-of-famer. This could ultimately be true, however I don’t agree with their reasoning. Brett Favre had plenty of bad seasons too. When the Packers decided that Favre should be benched for Rodgers, he cried and went somewhere else. Kurt Warner never said a word.

With the nightmare of a week this has been, it’s a small blessing to have some playoff football to look forward to. Here’s this week’s six pack for your Packers pleasure.

1. If you read my in-depth analysis of this weekend’s game, I promised that the outcome of my fishing trip would directly determine the outcome of this week’s Packer’s game. Sometimes a streak of luck is all you need. Well, I caught some fish and had a good time. Then, on the way home some lady stopped in the middle of the four lane expressway in a blizzard and totaled my car. However, I walked away without a scratch. I would say the streak is on. Your Green Bay Packers will win 27-14, putting the game out of reach in the early parts of the fourth quarter.

2. I still don’t know quite what this is, but the Packers girl is in dead last among the finalists.

3. If you didn’t catch “Around The Lounge” make sure and check it out. I am looking for people interested in being panelists on the next show. Please contact me if you are interested. All you need is a webcam.

4. I was browsing the Green Bay Press-Gazette’s article that looked back on pre-season predictions. I just went and looked at mine. Although I was off on some things, there are others that made my skin crawl. Freaky.

5. This NFL Hog index really intrigues me. I am seeing it around more and more. Every time I see it, it predicts the Green Bay Packers make the dance. Finally, a system that works.

6. What is you were to run 10,001 simulations of this Sunday’s game based on a rigorous analysis of each team that considers strength-of-schedule-adjusted team and player ratings and then makes modifications for injuries and depth at each position? Let’s find out.

1. Well, our test of the video broadcast system for our soon to be show “Around The Lounge” was a success. Only three people showed up, but the technology worked perfectly. We plan to run it “Around The Horn” style with four guests each week and a host.

I would like to see Nagler, Carriveau, Dale Z, and Packer Ranter battle it out among others. Throw in some Jersey Al and Greg C. and it could get interesting. I will of course be the Lounge version of Tony Reali. Get ready, if I don’t like what you have to say, you’ll be asked to shut your box and go.

2. Last year, I too was saying that Nick Collins was overrated. Here is what Nick had to say:

“I put a lot of pressure on myself,” Collins said. “I just wanted to prove everyone wrong that was talking bad about me, saying, ‘He’s a one-hit wonder,’ so the pressure was all on me.”

Do we take it back now?

3. Just to rile up a few people in a time of calm, former Packer Jon Ryan had a great year.

4. The talk about next year’s free agency and an uncapped year is already heating up. The list of Packers that are “unrestricted” will actually go down, making several players now “restricted” free agents. If anyone cares, I ranked these guys by what I feel is the order they should be dealt with.

I know someone will totally disagree with that list. That’s what lists are for.

5. You may not know this, but I am a big supporter of the movement towards stricter discipline for sexual offenders. That is why I don’t use verbs like rape as illustrations in anything I write. Anyway, I found this little part of this story terribly sad for someone who most certainly is living in Wisconsin.

“The women testified that they developed panic attacks and sleeping disorders after their encounters with Taft. One said she had to give up an internship because the Packers memorabilia at work reminded her of Taft’s office decorations, triggering her anxiety attacks.”

Yes, I too have a societal soft side. If your looking for resolutions to add to the list tonight, an easy one is simply to not promote sexual violence through the use of inappropriate language. That is all. I also directed a church choir for several years, true story.

1. It appears that Mike McCarthy has chosen the post game dining spot for this week’s game. The restaurant will be McCarthy’s favorite pizza joint Aiello’s.

2. I actually went over and read some Cheesehead TV this morning (don’t let anyone fool you, I’m there every day too). Anyway, my favorite egojaculate has made some good points this week, seriously. I know it’s amazing but I can’t disagree that Jarrett Bush was not horrible, the “psycho defense” is awesome, and naturally the next formation should be called “The Claymaker.”

3. I love Brian’s new vblog over at Railbird Central. As soon as I figure out what program he is using to get that logo I’m going to make one. Stealing is the best form of flattery you know. Watch out Dick and Mindy, your job is going to be outsourced.

4. With the Johnny Jolly story in the news again, Packer Ranter dives a little bit into the drink Mr. Johnny Jolly was tossing back. I know a ton of younger kids at school who drink this shit. What happened to good old fashioned bong hits?

5. If you didn’t catch this, Packer nation may owe one to the Bear’s Tommie Harris.

I made it through my annual two weeks of December hell, and I finally can breath a little for a month or so. What better time to crack open a six pack of Packer particularization.

1. I know I am no pundit, but I had never heard of the Defensive Hog Index. Now that I have, I am glad the Pack is number one.

2. Holy crap, Mike McCarthy has a HUGE snowblower, and he isn’t afraid to use it.

3. Yeah, this clothing line will be a big seller. Fail.

4. Just a little bit of information on our newest Harvard grad, and Walter Payton award finalist Chris Pizotti.

5. Was listening to the radio and they were talking about the first game after 9/11. The topic was about the Packers linebacker that ran out of the tunnel with a huge American flag. I have been trying all week to remember who it was. I finally had to google it. Do you?

6. I always ask for as many Packer related stocking stuffers as I can for Christmas each year. Here is the lineup of new gear from the Pro Shop.

Wow, am I behind. I’ve been so busy I don’t even know what the hell is going on (not that I ever did). This six pack is as much for my good as yours. Here’s six Packer stories that I personally missed this week.

1. Jeremy Kapinos sucks. You can’t tell me there is not someone out there on the streets that isn’t better than old JK. Dude, your are LAST in the league right now as we head into the cold months? No wonder we can’t stop anyone on returns.

2. I don’t know if you caught it last week, but Brian Carriveau did a little news cast that I thought was pretty cool. The banner is the background is fairly sweet too. Dick and Mindy are pissed, but they love the mutton chops.

3. I was thinking this same thing the other night, and sure as ‘shee’ it almost happened. The Packers wanted Mike McKenzie. I would have taken him, he played pretty decent on Monday. I like Mike

4. I was shocked when the Packers actually signed Crabtree this week. He could be a big weapon down the middle.

5. By nerds, for nerds, about nerds. It’s trio of nerd.

6. I’m sure you all know, but Chmura is going into the Packers Hall of Fame. I mean he is Chewie, but that means, well, he is Chewie. I think it’s a bit too early.

I was feeling pretty sick last night, so I got up around 4 a.m. and started browsing around places I don’t usually check out. Here’s what I ran into.

1. I thought this was a great article on special teams. Although it’s no Carriveau analysis, it highlights just how much Slocum and company contributed to the Packer’s loss against the Buccaneers.

2. At least one player from last weeks game was named player of the week.

3. Like I mentioned on my call in to Nagler and company on Cheesehead Nation, I have found myself surprisingly calm at the Packers lackluster season. This alarms me, but I think Donald’s Designated Driver sums it up the best when he says, “It is simply impossible for me to care more about a team than the team cares about itself.” I could not agree more.

4. It looks like Sweden has come up with a new way to spell Packers. Normally I would be pissed, but things being the way they are that’s some funny shit.

5. We all have wondered why there wasn’t much of a sense of urgency this off-season in the front office. True Slant, makes a pretty good argument here that, “Simply put, McCarthy and Ted Thompson didn’t expect the Packers to be a contender in 2009.” I totally buy into that theory and firmly believe that’s why you will at least see Thompson around next year.

6. Finally, there are some Packer fans I would just assume not be associated with. Total Packers highlights a couple of fans that would definitely fit that bill.

It’s been a slow week for any kind of Packer news. After the loss to the Vikings, half the blogosphere has seemed to disappear. Sounds like a great time for a six-pack.

1. I’m sure you’ve heard it already, but the Packers tried to get Anthony Smith back. When is the organization going to realize that we know more about the football than them? I hope it’s soon.

2. As you all know I am now a Minnesota resident. Along with that fact comes the bitter reality that I have to park next to atrocities like this. Sorry, it was dark and I was trying not to puke.

3. Speaking of pictures, Packers Lounge member Jim (longtimefan) hit the Vikings game last weekend camera in hand. Make sure and check out his photo gallery of the day’s events. I also totally LOVE this video of the Packer introductions.

4. Hmm, let’s find out what’s going on at Packer Ranter today. Well, it looks like Franklin took an excursion to Green Bay for Halloween, and also finds some positives in the Viking’s game. Hey Franklin, what the hell is wrong with D.C. Everest? It treated me just fine. Rothschild always smells like ass though.

5. Think you are a die-hard? This guy demanded he be allowed to wear a cheesehead to President Obama’s speech. The Secret Service gave in and let him wear it. He even got the President to sign it. That’s frickin’ awesome.
