Eagles fans are up in arms over sports agent's tweet.

The internet exploded on Sunday when Eagles safety, Kurt Coleman’s agent, Blake Baratz took to twitter stating that he has major issues with Vick.

Below are the exact tweets:

Kurt Coleman was drafted by the Eagles in 2010 and has a history of causing drama on his team. In a practice at The Ohio State University, Coleman tackled teammate, Tyson Gentry. Gentry is now paralyzed. Coleman offered to leave the team, but the Gentry forgave him.

Coleman has also had issues with other players throughout the league. In 2010 he landed a helmet-to-helmet hit that gave Colts WR Austin Collie a concussion.

But this is the first time that Coleman has so publicly attacked a teammate and not apologized for it. Coleman’s twitter feed after the incident only includes Bible verses and tech questions; his silence on the issue clearly stating his agreement with Baratz’s tweets.

Following the tweets, fans, radio personalities, national newspapers and sports networks talked about the story ad nauseam. Calling for the Eagles to cut the former college Sporting News All-American or for Coleman to fire his agent and publicly state that he does indeed believe that Vick will take the team somewhere.

The story refuses to die and fans and pundits alike believe that this will be an ongoing issue for the rest of the season; possibly even taking over next season. Look for reporters to ask Vick in his post-game press conference this Sunday how he believes his game compares with Tarvaris Jackson’s and where he plans on taking the team.

**Author’s note: I did indeed visit Coleman’s Wikipedia page today, as prior to yesterday, I had never of him. You can visit it too here.

The urban dictionary has a new word this morning — Bedarded. It’s the act of taking an innocent statement and using it as some form of implied truth. The phenomenon is sweeping the nation, most recently regarding Nick Collins.

One of the things (one of many) that pisses me off on a regular basis is watching how content develops. I agree that Twitter and other new sources of information have certainly enhanced the knowledge we so desperately crave. These developing technologies, although amazing, have led to a whole new genre of copy writing — taking a one liner and somehow spinning it into a headline.

Case in point last night on the subject of Nick Collins. A simple question about the safety holding out was presented to Bedard. His answer is now a national Packer headline.

Now, let it be known that Greg Bedard is probably about as informed as they come on the Green Bay Packers. His writing style and friendly personality have also somehow turned him into the Chris Berman of Packer news. Super-stardom aside, this does not make everything he says a story.

I wake up this morning and this silly tweet is headline news all over the place. It’s a story on rotoworld, MSNBC, and of course at Railbird Central (Has anyone that noticed that site is ALL over google now?). Seriously, get a life. It’s a tweet, from a phone, in reply to an unanswerable question. It’s an opinion people; informed maybe, but still just that. This is hardly breaking news.

Now, I know there are a few of you all already upset and thinking I am letting Bedard have it here too, but you would be mistaken. Greg Bedard is not stupid, and if he did have any solid inkling of what Nick Collins was going to do, I’ll guarantee he wouldn’t be sharing it with you on Twitter. Things like that are saved for the spotlight.

The truth on Collins is that no one knows what is going to happen. I also don’t neccesary agree that this will be a messy and near guaranteed hold out for Nick. No one takes into account the many X-factors that could be going through Nick’s head. Yes, he may be money hungry, but who is to say that other things aren’t more important to Nick right now?

Last season was a hard one for Nick. His father died, he was catching a lot of flack, and he played on a 6-10 team. This season the variables are a little different. He now plays on a contender, the competition at his position in the NFC allows him to get the probowl on stats alone, and this is just a guess, but I bet Nick would love to look to the sky with a Super Bowl trophy in his hands and take a moment to say thank you to the man who taught him so much.

If I had to wager, I would think the process will be much smoother and much less a distraction than anyone is predicting… which is all we can do right now.

Don’t be Bedarded
