What the hell is the problem with you people anyway? Your Green Bay Packers, after overcoming one of the most catastrophic injury riddled seasons, are in the playoffs and all you want to talk about is what the team is going to do next year.

For the love of God, please shut up.

Can’t you take a second to enjoy the moment before moving on to the speculation of next season? It’s stupid, and a slap in the face to the guys that are playing on Sunday.

Who gives a crap what the Packers are going to do next year anyway? I want to talk about the PLAYOFF game against Philly, the team that doesn’t look anything like it did in pre-season, and all the household names that weren’t even in the driveway back in September.

Screw the off-season.

I don’t care what’s happening to Nick Barnett, Cullen Jenkins, the draft, or any of that other speculative crap that all you dorks will sit around talking about for the next five months non-stop. Give it a break for at least a week huh?

The Packers are going into a huge playoff game this Sunday. The players, THIS YEAR’S players, are getting ready to make a run to the Super Bowl.

But please, let’s talk about next season. Pathetic.

Just a really quick note and a hattip to Kevin Joho on Twitter.

I know that there has been a lot of moaning and groaning over the no-call in the endzone on Greg Jennings as well as a few others.

This of course has been overshadowed by just about everything else, but it was interesting to hear that the same crew that took away the Calvin Johnson catch, was the same crew on the field today.

Refs calling it even now?

Now I’m not sayin’.

Just sayin’.

I had to choose a new favorite Green Bay Packer.

If you didn’t already know, Mark Tauscher has been my favorite Packer since he became a member of the team. As a Badger fan, I was an early Tausch supporter and have continued to let him carry the honor of being my favorite Packer until now. With Tauscher now on IR, and most likely gone at the end of the season, he no longer meets my criteria as a favorite Packer candidate. He now goes on the list of all time favorite Packers.

He must be replaced.

Now I have spent some time thinking on this one, and even took the advice of the almighty Packer Ranter who stated, “Your favorite Packers pick you.” That was good advice I think, so I took the time to really narrow it down to what I wanted and needed from a favorite player. This is how it went down.

1. I eliminated the most famous players from contention. In order to be my favorite Packer, you can’t be everyone else’s favorite Packer too. That’s just my rule. So, off the top, these guys go.

Aaron Rodgers

Greg Jennings

Jermichael Finley

Charles Woodson

Clay Matthews

2. I decided to then eliminate some of the older guys. I really don’t want to have to choose a new favorite Packer every year. The too old list is:

Chad Clifton

Donald Driver

Ryan Pickett

Howard Green

Brett Goode

3. Next, I crossed off all the guys that quite simply I don’t like enough to be my favorite player.

Nick Collins

A.J. Hawk

Jarrett Bush

Ryan Grant

John Kuhn

Jordy Nelson

Korey Hall

Donald Lee

4. Next I decided to take out guys who either hadn’t proven themselves quite yet, are still too young, or I felt would never rise to favorite player standards.

Matt Flynn

Justin Harrell (if he ever does play consistently, and consistently good, he will automatically take the spot)

Charlie Peprah

Jarius Wynn

Pat Lee

Tom Crabtree

Andrew Quarless

Quinn Johnson

Brad Jones

Brady Poppinga

Brett Swain

C.J. Wilson

5. Then I hosed the guys I think suck.

Daryn Colledge

Atari Bigby

Derrick Martin

Brandon Underwood

Brandon Chillar

Johnny Jolly

6. I then eliminated all the guys that I couldn’t remember off the top of my head. If I can’t remember your name, you can’t be my favorite player. I obviously can’t list them.

7. After all of this was over, I was left with the following players:

Brandon Jackson

James Jones

Josh Sitton

Bryan Bulaga

T.J. Lang

Scott Wells

Jason Spitz

B.J. Raji

Cullen Jenkins

Mike Neal

Desmond Bishop

Nick Barnett

Tramon Williams

Sam Shields

Frank Zombo

Tim Masthay

Mason Crosby

8. I then had to eliminate some of my sentimental favorites, or guys that people might look at me weird for thinking are awesome.

Brandon Jackson

Tim Masthay

Jason Spitz

9. The next four guys I eliminated not because I don’t like them, but they just aren’t my kind of favorite player.

Mike Neal

T.J. Lang

Frank Zombo

Scott Wells

10. Now my list was down to the final ten where it got pretty hard eliminating guys. This is the point I had to start going with my gut. Dropping off were:

Sam Shields

Bryan Bulaga

Mason Crosby

Cullen Jenkins

11. I was stuck with these six for a long time. So I had to start making illogical decisions.

Nick Barnett

Desmond Bishop

Tramon Williams

B.J. Raji

Josh Sitton

James Jones

12. I took out Josh Sitton. I think he is a pro-bowler, but he really doesn’t have any ties to me one way or another so I had to take him off. Love the guy though.

13. I think James Jones is going to make all the haters look silly one day. I would LOVE to have Jones as my favorite player just to argue, but I guess that why he goes here.

14. It’s always nice to have a favorite player who could also have a burger named after them. It was tough, but B.J. and the Raji Burger end their quest here.

15. I love Nick Barnett. He came on Packer Transplants, has been a great guy on Twitter, and will always be one of favorite Packers. Sorry, Nick. Call the show one more time and I’ll bump you to the top again. I think if Nick had not gotten hurt, he would have won. I need a guy on the field though. Nothing personal dude.

16. Tramon Williams is a superstar in the making. If Ted Thompson fails to keep him around, I’ll be super pissed. It would have been a popular pick, but Tramon just missed the cut.

So, after all that soul searching, Desmond Bishop is now my new favorite Packer. I always liked the way Desmond played hard in the pre-seasons, and now seeing him on the field going hard play after play is impressive.

He’s tough and plays with passion, two things that are a must to be my favorite player. I also think Desmond is going to be around for a long time to come.

I hope so, this post took forever.

None of this surprises me, I've been saying it for years.

I imagine everyone is expecting some hell fire speech, or perhaps a “don’t worry we’re fine” type spiel, but honestly I really could care less.

I knew the Green Bay Packers would eventually end up in this kind of position. Been writing about it for years.

Packers 20 Dolphins 23

Watch the NFL Highlights

Quick Hits

Mike McCarthy has lost this football team. In all definitions of the word.

I would get on any kind of fire McCarthy bandwagon right now.

Aaron Rodgers seems to be who a lot of Packer fans thought he was. Not Brett Favre.

Anthony Smith is the answer.

Today is why I laugh at people that thought Bulaga could step in and dominate. Tauscher is our best tackle right now.

Desmond Bishop is making a case for a whole lot of interesting things.

Tramon Williams is going to be rich soon. That means he won’t be in Green Bay.

Is it just me or do the Packers only have two plays: Shotgun up the middle handoff and Shotgun throw it 50 yards down the field?

Some people cry when they’re wronged and others get up and shove it down your throat. Our guy cries.

Pat Lee sucks.

If you don’t like people bitching about the Packers on the internet, stay off the internet. Thanks.

I knew this week and the weeks to come were/are going to be a disaster. The only way to overcome adversity and the type of injuries that Packers have suffered is through solid leadership and adjustments. These unfortunately are the two things that our coach and general manager are either unable or unwilling to do.

I’m sick of being a Packer fan today. For the last decade it’s been the same thing over and over again. It’s like going to the county fair for me now. You know you’re going to have a good time, and that most likely the food is going to awesome, but in the back of your mind you never forget that Weird Al Yankovic is still the headliner.

Hang on folks, it’s only get to get worse next week. No way we win that game. Absolutely no way.

My take on the Packers vs. Redskins

First off, I suppose I do owe everyone an apology. An apology for not posting all that much the last three weeks. It’s terrible I know, but I’ve been busy.

School is insane right now. I also have some exciting things going on with my little freelance business and on the side I re-designed the Cheesehead TV auction page with the little spare time I had left. So pardon me if I have not put out my opinion on every single dynamic of the Packers football team in the last few weeks. Contrary to popular belief, I do accomplish exciting things outside of this page.

I just prefer not to jabber about them every chance I get.

Anyway, on to the Packer game. Here are your quick hits.

Packers 13 Redskins 16

Watch the NFL Packers highlights.

Watch the Packers game highlights.

Quick Hits

I just got back from a backwoods canoe trip in the middle of nowhere without any internet or phone service. I should have stayed there.

This was my first radio game in nearly five years I believe. There is also something to be said for that. Fall colors, driving, listening to Larry and Wayne. One hell of a fine way to end the weekend.

That said, I wrote that the Packers were average last week, and I stand by that.

Hats off to Desmond Bishop. I know a lot of people have wondered about the effectiveness of Nick Barnett. I think Desmond Bishop really took his chance and ran with it today. Perhaps better than his predecessor.

Losing Jermichael Finley is going to hurt whatever way you dice it. However, the offense does not start and stop with Finley. It certainly can be overcome…

…if you run the ball, which again the Packers failed to do. Actually, let me re-phrase that. Something Mike McCarthy failed to do. The Packers running backs ran the ball great. Too bad the featured guy only got the rock about 10 ten times.

Aaron Rodgers is just simply not ready to carry the entire team yet. I still think he is an elite talent, but he has yet to be an elite leader. Just because a guy can make a brilliant throw, doesn’t make him the next coming. Yeah, I said that.

All the injury homers are out in force today. The same guys who were hollering for Bulaga last week are now crying about how we would have won that game if Mark Tauscher had been in, or Grant, or Barnett. Bulaga played as well as Tausch, Jackson played as well as Grant, and Bishop played as well as or better than Barnett. The only injury we could have hoped for was to the mouth of the guy calling the plays.

It’s been about three years since the Packers have been able to convert a third down inside the two.

It’s time to stop riding the DPOY wave from last year. For every play Charles Woodson has made, he has been flagged for two huge penalties. In my math book that kind of just makes you serviceable.

Tramon Williams should be the one getting praise. In all honesty he’s been our best corner this year. That 52-yard return was for all the haters too.

Dom Capers does not know how to call a close game, period.

Mike McCarthy on the other hand, doesn’t know how to call a game, or coach his team up, or discipline his team, or hold any one accountable for anything.

MVP

Tramon Williams

I by no means have mailed it in, thank you very much, but the truth of the matter is that this team just isn’t very good right now. Blame it on the refs, blame it on the coach, blame it on whoever you want. The rock bottom line is that your 2010 Green Bay Packers are only a shade of what you we thought they’d be.

It’s going to take a radical change of mindset for this team to have any kind of shot. From the coaches, to the front office, to the players on the field, this team has absolutely no chance unless they figure out a way to play serious football. It’s the drops, it’s the poor clock management, it’s the play calling, and it’s the attitude. When you play like a bunch of trust fund elitists this is exactly what you get.

Take out the silver spoon and start acting like a football team.

The Packers are not a playoff team.

No quick hits today. I’ve held my tongue for the most part, noting how up and down the Packers have been this season. But it’s clear right now, the Green Bay Packers are an average team at best.

I get that the Lions and the Bears are improved teams, but the Packers were supposed to have something special. The only thing special about the Packers right now is just how average they are.

The Packers are a team with a lot of talent. They are also a team with plenty of underachievers and no direction. The coaching is average, the discipline is average, the moves are average, the attitude is average, and thus the play on the field is all of that and more.

Charles Woodson is a shade of himself. The defense is terrible, and the adjustments on defense are even worse. There is no running game, and Mike McCarthy or Ted Thompson for that matter don’t know what to do about it. The special teams are atrocious, their punter is a nut bag, and the offensive line isn’t any better than last year.

The Packers were dominated today in all facets of the game, if it wasn’t for the penalties it would have looked even worse. You can have all the talent in the world, but in order to have a shot at the title you have to have leaders on the sideline and in the front office.

It’s pretty obvious that the Packers have neither. Enjoy this 3-1 start while it lasts, because unless some serious changes are made, it’s going to be 4-4 in no time at all.

Like I said, average… at best.

Get used the 2010 Packers. They are here to stay.

I’m sick of everybody I guess. I’m sick of Twitter, I’m sick of Packers fans, and I’m sick of Packers news. Fifteen years ago I didn’t have any of this crap. I didn’t have complete and total fan meltdowns all around me. I didn’t have eight thousand people on Twitter asking me if, or wondering when, the Packers are going to sign a running back. People didn’t analyze, people didn’t scrutinize, and people didn’t throw themselves into the fire pit of despair at every wrong turn.

Back then, on game day, you got up, watched some highlights and then got together with whomever for the broadcast. If you wanted your news, you picked up a newspaper, read a little bit, perhaps bitched some with your fellow friends and co-workers and accepted the state of the team as just that, the state of the team. Well, guess what? Things haven’t changed and its about time everyone got that through their heads.

What you saw Monday night were your 2010 Packers, and barring injury will be the 2010 Packers for the rest of the season. If you don’t like it, well that’s tough luck because I guarantee nothing is going to change. So, in case you forget next week about what I said this week, you can get used the following, and please get used to it in a hurry.

Chad Clifton and Mark Tauscher are going to be the starting tackles unless they get too injured to play. There is not a chance in hell that you see Bryan Bulaga take over Clifton’s spot on a team with Superbowl potential. The same goes for Mark Tauscher. These guys are seasoned Packers who have seen everything an NFL game may throw at them. No doubt they have lost a step here and there, but for every time you see a speedy end beat them on the corner, there are three plays in which their experience and pre-snap recognition made a play before the ball was even snapped. You cannot replace that, and the Packers won’t. Get used to it and shut up. It’s Clifton and Tauscher for god sakes.

The Packers are going to get penalties. They will not get 18 a game, but you will see a flag or two in the next 13 games. McCarthy will have little to say about these flags, as history has shown he really sees them as a given in the game. There is no magic formula or speech that is going to change that. We have seen Clifton, Colledge, Woodson, and many others get flagged repeatedly for the same things for years. We will see the same thing this year. If Mike McCarthy is ok with it, then it’s on him. He has to know, as well as anyone, that if the Packers don’t ride deep into the post-season, that his time is Green Bay is most certainly over.

The Packers are not going to get a running back. Quit asking about Marshawn Lynch. Brandon Jackson and John Kuhn are our starting running backs from here on out. Now, it’s possible that Nance, or a healthy Starks emerges late as a weapon, but the Packers are not going to trade for anybody. Not to mention people, this is Cheesehead TV. If anything goes on with the running back situation it stands to reason that you might hear something about it from one of our eight million articles or Twitter feeds everyday. Seriously, quit asking me, it’s not going to happen. If it does, someone will tell you right away, I promise.

The special teams are only going to be average at best. Did you not know this going in? They may be slightly better overall, but if you are expecting to top the league in that area just get off the drugs now. We are going to be average, and there isn’t a whole lot us or the Packers can do about it. The Packers feel they are strong enough to overcome potential poor play on special teams. I tend to agree.

What does this all equate to? If you ask me the answer is for everyone to shut up. Yeah, we lost a game, but look what it took to lose:

Injury riddled defensive line

Injury riddled secondary

Shaky O-Line

Team Record in Penalties

Turnover in scoring position.

Poor special teams play

Poor coaching decisions

Poor clock management

Poor field position

In the end, the Packers only lose by three to what is now one of the top teams in the NFL. It was a perfect storm people, a complete disaster of epic proportion. What’s funny (and amazingly annoying) to me this season is how the residents of this storm ridden team react. Usually, in the face of adversity, a community rallies together to lift each other up. In Packer country, we’d rather just get a whole new set of residents who might do a better job of living there. This is our team people, like it or not.

Start being a Packer fan.

Green Bay Packer and Chicago Bears highlights from Monday Night Football.

In perhaps the most dramatic battle on slate for the 2010 NFL season thus far, the Green Bay Packers took on the Chicago Bears on Monday night football. Here are your quick hits and highlights.

Packers 17 Bears 17

Watch the Green Bay Packers highlights.

Watch the NFL highlights.

Quick Hits and Packer Highlights

First Half

Frank Zombo, two plays one sack.

Charles Woodson is getting flagged WAY too much.

The Packers should get kudos for hanging tough and getting a stop on the first drive.

Man, our offense is amazing when it’s on. Absolutely breathtaking.

Great coverage by A.J. Hawk in the end zone.

Derrick Martin did his best Darren Sharper impression on the pick in the endzone.

Can the Packers special teams do anything, anything at all?

The Dom Capers “Sack Machine” is in full effect.

Why are we going back to the infamous first on none up the middle? God.

Darren Colledge with another hold at a critical time. You suck Colledge.

The special teams tried to give away the game to the Bears every chance they had. Amazing the Packers lead.

Tim Masthay has been nothing special. Never hire a guy who talks to himself, that’s what I say.

Second Half

James Jones is playing tough.

Mark Tauscher has always been my favorite Packer. Not tonight Mark.

The run by John Kuhn was the most amazing thing I have seen in awhile.

I’ll take the belt by Aaron Rodgers every time if that is the result. Hell. Yeah.

James Jones. Game Over. That’s why no one has any faith in you.

You pressure all day then you play soft in the most critical situation of the 4th quarter. Frickin’ stupid.

Packers MVP

The Officials

Nice work all night long guys. We made you earn your money.

Final Thoughts

The Packers did everything they could to get beat today, and I mean everything. From special teams, to miscues, and with lack of heart the Packers gave the game away. We all know McCarthy doesn’t care about flags, and never has, so don’t expect that to change. As far as the rest, we can only hope, again.

Mike McCarthy should be embarrassed, so should the Green Bay Packers. Congrats, you just set the all time record for penalties.

Superbowl.

Highlights of the Packers vs. the Bills.

In what many considered to be a trap game, the Green Bay Packers played their first home opener this Sunday against the Buffalo Bills. Here are your quick hits and highlights.

Packers 34 Bills 7

Watch the Green Bay Packers highlights.

Watch more Packers video here.

Quick Hits and Highlights

Starting to love Jordy on kick returns. Solid way to open a game.

Did we score on an opening drive? We did, all hail my guy Mason Crosby.

Defense: “Death Squad” – Dale Zawada

Matthews is decent.

Some seriously questionable red zones calls in the first quarter.

People are calling the run defense “suspect” are you?

As of the first half, the Packers only had 3 total penalties on defense this season. Two of them were Woodson.

So sick of the shotgun handoff. It’s frickin’ stupid.

James Jones and Aaron Rodgers need to practice more. Like tonight.

Clay Matthews looks okay.

First Half Breakdown: Show some life already.

A.J. Hawked rocked Trent Edwards.

That screen thing to Donald Lee was a dumbass play at best.

Clay Matthews is pretty good.

Looks like they gave up on Jones and started Nelson. I guess it worked out.

I LOVE it when Aaron Rodgers runs for one. Outstanding.

Is this the coming out party for Burnett?

Did Bulaga just win the starting tackle job? That’s the big story here.

Just like that, James Jones find some redemption.

Special teams? Hit and miss all game. Still better than last year.

Clay Matthews should be a serviceable starter in a couple years.

MVP

Bryan Bulaga

I know the sexy pick is Matthews here (who is a single-handed quarterback killing machine), but when was the last time a rookie tackle, or any back up tackle for that matter didn’t suck.

Think about it.

Final thoughts:

Welcome to the bandwagon.

Enough already with the Spencer Havner outrage.

Oh my god. With the outrage on Twitter, and on the Green Bay Packers facebook page, you would think we just cut Aaron Rodgers. I mean seriously.

My favorite:

Ted Thompson should be held accountable for this move. There is no way he is interested in doing what is best for the Packers. Spencer Havner was a beast and this could cost us a championship.

Let’s get real for a second. Spencer Havner was perhaps the 3rd or 4th tightend, and the 7th or 8th linebacker on this team. He was not a beast, he was a hard worker that had maximized his potential a long time ago. In fact, outside of special teams, there really wasn’t a spot for average guy like Havner anymore.

There are probably ten or more guys on this team that if given the chance could be the 4th string player at a position on the opposite side of the ball. What Spencer Havner did was unique, but certainly not special.

I wish Spencer the best of luck, but the Packers merely cut a 4th string tight end. Yes, he is a football player, no doubt. But a pedestrian one at best.

As far as costing us the Super Bowl, don’t be stupid.

Here is the 2010 Green Bay Packers cut list.

Here is the final 2010 Green Bay Packers cuts list. The Packers have reached the 53 man roster limit.

The Cut List

T Allen Barbre. Reached injury settlement and released.

DE Ron Talley. Released but asked to consider practice squad.

NT Anthony Toribio. Released, probably practice squad.

RB Kregg Lumpkin. Released.

LB Cyril Obiozor. Released. Zombo makes the team.

CB Will Blackmon. Released. Injury settlement.

WR Charles Dillon. Cut.

WR Jason Chery. Cut.

LB Alex Joseph. Cut.

DE Jarius Wynn. Cut. Not PS eligible.

OL Chris Campbell. Cut.

LB Maurice Simpkins. Cut.

P Chris Bryan. Cut. Potential practice squad if clear of waivers.

CB D.J. Clark. Cut.

C Evan Dietrich-Smith. Cut.

LB Robert Francois. Cut.

T Breno Giacomini. Cut.

QB Graham Harrell. Cut.

TE Spencer Havner. Cut.

S Anthony Levine. Cut.

WR Chastin West. Cut.

WR Patrick Williams. Cut.

Not a whole lot of surprises for me outside of Havner. But, truth be told, he was four deep at each position he plays at best.

My only concern right now? It would be nice to see someone that can at least be serviceable in the return department.

P.S. Jarrett Bush is still here.
