Packers Assault Case?

It appears that seven member of the Green Bay Packers were questioned about a sexual assault near the Wisconsin Dells last night.

It appears that seven member of the Green Bay Packers were questioned about a sexual assault near the Wisconsin Dells last night.

This sucks:

"Police reached the two women at 4:17 a.m. who had called 911. The two women pointed out a rental condo at the Wilderness Resort Golf Cabins, saying they were assaulted there. They said they believed more than one person was involved in the assault.

Officers asked seven men in the condo to come to the Police Department for interviews. Police released six of the men after their interviews, saying they didn't suspect those men in any illegal activity.

The seventh man was interviewed and released, pending further investigation."

Dammit. Dammit. Dammit.

We all know who had a charity golf event there last night. Brace yourselves Packer nation, things like this never turn out well.

UPDATE: Police interviewed and released Matt Flynn, Joshua Sitton, Korey Hall, Brad Jones, Clay Matthews and Khalil Jones.

The seventh Packer remains a mystery at this point.

I'd rather have learned Matthews was on 'roids then have him be a low-life rapist. Let's hope this clears up positively and quickly. Like I said on Twitter, I'd rather cheer for a 4-12 team full of Packer people than a Super Bowl winner full of dudes that keep getting caught up with the law.

Good news is already out that Matthews has been released. Great news really. Let's hope it keeps going in that direction.

Don't drag a players name into it until someone in a position of authority actually says something. That report is pretty vague. It doesn't even say that the men questioned were members of the Packers. I'm sure there were other golfers participating besides members of the team.

"Seven Green Bay Packers were interviewed Saturday as part of an investigation of two alleged sexual assaults at a rental condominium at Wilderness Resort Golf Cabins in Lake Delton.

Lake Delton police identified six of the players that were interviewed but were not considered suspects in the case. A seventh member of the Packers was also interviewed and released but his involvement is still under investigation by the Lake Delton Police Department. His name was not released."

Okay, according to the Green Bay Press Gazzette:

"He says the six others are not suspected of criminal activity. They are Matt Flynn, Khalil Jones, Josh Sitton, Korey Hall, Brad Jones and Clay
Matthews."

http://www.greenbaypressgazette.com/article/20100605/PKR01/100605041/105...

So, let's not casually throw someone's name around with the word "rapist."

Next time you should actually hit the "reply" button so folks know who you're talking to.

And I'll post whatever I please, thank you. You can say it's bad form (and you might have a case), but to say I "shouldn't" "don't" do something it comes off at best as concern trolling, and at worst as fascist demands. Either way, you're more likely to start a flame war then actually have a constructive conversation.

I agree with Erik. I would rather follow a 4-12 team of "good charachter people" than one with a bunch of "thugs"! I certainly hope we don't have another "Cleveland" on our hands! That being said... I don't think we know what's going on yet, but you would think they'd be smarter than to put themselves in a position like that (alcohol being involved or not). You also can't tell me they haven't been counseled to stay out of situations like that! Just hope the whole mess is resolved quickly

Alcohol+Athlete=Dumb Ass!

When in the hell are these overpayed babies going to realize that nothing good can come from a one-nighter. At best, they get a case of the "crabs". At worst, jail and career gone.

Get these guys on the practice field and run them into the ground. That'll take care of their libido issues.

Look, no way this kid raped 2 chicks at once. Nothing will come of this (book it).

"Our investigation is coming to a conclusion". A quick investigation should mean good things for #7 (not a whole lot to investigate, sort through the he-said she-said and move on).

How 'bout we give some props to the guy! Nailing two chicks at once (takes some skillz, athlete or not). My $$$ is on Underwood, he could pull of the menage.

Can't say I am totally surprised about Underwood. He was a highly recruited player who lost three years of eligibility at Ohio State because of immaturity. Now, anonymous players are saying he's been a problem since he's been here.

Mike Florio at PFT said underwood would be likely to get a similar suspension to Reothlesberger. I completely disagree. The evidence in that case showed it was far more serious than "where there's smoke there's fire". No evidence has been released yet, so I am going to hold-off judgement until more emerges. Police said they were very close to closing the case last night (which could end up meaning nothing either way). At the very least, he put himself in a very stupid situation and now has a lot of explaining to do to his wife. We all know the worst case scenario.

The worst part has to be the fact that this dude is married with kids. Even if he didn't r*pe these women, he said he made "contact." Not cool man, I don't care how much bragging points a three-way gets you, you stood up in front of your family, friends and community and told them you would only be with one woman for the rest of your life.

If you weren't ready to make that commitment, don't make it and have all the group stuff you want, none of my business. But cheating on your wife, and the mother of your children no less, is not what "Packer People" do.

*I had to censor this post because Alex's spam catcher thought it was "spam" written without it.

Really dude? Are we really gonna start trying to monitor what kind of Husband/Father these guys are? This isn't the first Packer to step out on his wife, far, far from it. As long as he's not getting arrested or suspended for his behavior, I don't know/care what he's doing at home. For one, there's no way for us to really know. And secondly, if he wants to be a POS Dad/Husband, he's got to live with that.

And "Packer People" is the biggest crock of shit term I've ever heard. What exactly is a "Packer Person"? Was Eugene a PP? What about Chewy? Packer People = Laughable.

Don't get arrested and PLAY BALL!

Yes, really.

I am not going to start monitoring what type of husband/father these guys are. Never said that.

This is the first *person* to step out of line from their spouse. Far from it. Does that excuse it? Does that make it acceptable behavior from anyone? I stand firmly on the no side. And I think you do to judging by your willingness to call him a "POS dad/husband." How you can get up and cheer for someone you yourself say is a POS every Sunday is something you have to live with, but I'm certainly not going to.

I don't know you you're talking about with "Eugene" (young guy here, disgraceful lack of Packer history knowledge), but Chewy is definitely not a dude I am proud of cheering for as a young man and I'm ashamed he was on the team. He is not Packer People. And yes, it does make me less happy about him being on a team that won the Super Bowl.

Like I said, he can be a plushie, into S&M, let his kids watch rated R films... I don't care, those are his choices.

But cheating on your spouse, maybe with pros, is a whole nother level poor behavior. This isn't a black and white thing; just because something isn't illegal doesn't make it morally reprensible. Life is way more subtle than that and broad stroke viewing of it is at best lazy, and at worst an excuse to pass the buck and not to think critically.

I don't let the law or anyone else decide for me what I find acceptable and unacceptable, I do that for myself.

He was largely thought to be a great guy/non-turd is my point. I know he was a Falcon, but I doubt he 'changed' to a 'turd' in such a short time from leaving the GBP.

And the newborn baby, that's a family concern. Plenty of NFL players are crap Fathers. Not that I like it, but it's a fact.

Fitz. He actually has 3 kids, one being a 2 week old. I don't care if you have an open marriage, it's impossible to think about having sex with other women, if you love your family and has a newborn baby. Impossible. Unless you're a turd.

Everything you are speaking on is between he and HIS FAMILY. I'm not close enough to his (or any other Packer's) home situation to have anything to say. Is he a turd? He would appear to be. Have turds suited up for the G&G before? Yes. Whose gonna head up the "turd taskforce"? Not me. I have other things to worry about besides if a Pro-Athlete whom I don't know/doesn't know me is a 'turd' at home.

I'm not asking for choir boys on our team, Fitz. I'm asking for mature, with a decent moral standart, men.

Is Underwood Cromartie, who has a kid in every state? No. But if he can't be accountable for his own newborn son, who says he will for his team???

I totally hear AND understand where you are coming from, RS. And in a perfect world, 53 'upright-citizens' repping the G&G would be absolutely ideal! Unfortunately, you and I both know this ain't no perfect world. Stuff like this is going to happen from time to time.

Maybe in his mind putting a roof over his kids head and food in their mouth constitutes "be accountable for his own newborn son"? Not everyone shares the same set of moral beliefs.

Anyhew, this dead horse is starting to get my boots all sorts of stinky.
