Hail Harry

I always take the opportunity to point out the rare occasion that I might not be insane. Enter Harry Sydney, former Packer running backs coach.

I have been saying for years that Brandon Jackson is not the answer. Every season, and again already this year, Mike McCarthy takes a moment to tell us how awesome Brandon Jackson is going to be. Most recently he made the same statement at a breakfast with reporters last week.

Seriously, enough with the Jackson talk. He doesn't get the ball, and most importantly he doesn't have the big play ability this team needs. This being said, it was nice to hear it from a former Green Bay Packer running back coach Harry Sydney say essentially the same thing in a Brian Carriveau interview yesterday.

Says Sydney:

"I think what the Packers need this year, I’d love to see them get a third down back," said Sydney. "Brandon Jackson’s not the guy. Nobody’s the guy. They need to have a third down back."

Amen and hallelujah to that. Now I know it's slow and other bloggers are getting linked up by ESPN for their stories on the availability of Brian Westbrook or drafting a C.J. Spiller, but again, and I will say it for the fifth time without getting linked up by a four letter network... Leon Washington.

That's your answer, plain and simple. Why spend time talking about a run-down has been when an up-and-comer, who has all the skills this team is looking for, is available for a measly second round pick?

You can have your Westbrook's and you can have your Jackson's - I'll take a Washington. Run with that ESPN.

The last guy coming off a busted leg did just fine around here.

Brandon Jackson's only real strength is blitz pickup. He's had his chance to prove himself and he's never taken that leap of maturity.

They should trade on draft day. The Packers give up their second and third picks. Having their impact player, they use the second and third round picks TT already traded down for.

Don't like Washington. Rather have Best. Rather have McCluster, McNight, later.

Wow. Got hungry out of the blue...

Does Harry got his playbook stuffed down his pants? I tend to agree with the guys insights, so I think I just found a new way to carry my books to class.
