The great debate over the third wideout continues to rage this season. After an impressive performance in training camp and on family night, Jordy Nelson seemed to have the inside edge. However, in the first real (sorta) game of the season, perhaps the tables have turned.
Both players did their part on special teams, and both took snaps with the first string offense, although James Jones got that majority. Both Jones and Nelson each had a drop, while Jones out caught Nelson for the game. Will the depth chart change come next game? Or, will we see an even number of snaps for both players?

Week One: Jordy Nelson vs. James Jones
0:15 Nice special teams stop by Jordy. Bush with an asssist. Wow.
0:21 Flynn with a dart to Jordy on a nice route.
0:37 Jordy drops one you can’t drop. I don’t care about the flag. He has to make that catch. Maybe he was distracted by the beach ball.
1:12 Nice throw. Nice catch. Nice play by Jones.
1:33 Jones drops a Rodgers’ pass.
1:44 Now THAT should have been a flag. Notice how Jones stays cool about it. Professional.
1:54 Another nice grab by Jones. Nice throw by Flynn too.
1:59 Flynn hangs in there for a big gain to Jones.
2:15 Again, kudos to Flynn. That had to hurt.
Although Jones wasn’t spectacular, he definitely has to be at least neck-and-neck with Jordy at this point. We will see what next week brings, but for now, I think it’s a dead heat.
