I think they have a good pass catching RB in B Jackson. It is tough to catch when not thrown to or even in the game.

"I do think it’s likely that if they called so few plays for him to go over the middle, they had their doubts about that aspect of his game." - if you have Donald Driver, the best WR going over the middle in the entire NFL, why send out the rook? Nelson's time will come when and if he finds himself at the flanker position.

I don't expect to see the drops from Jones this year. Remember that one of your favorite players, Atari Bigby, sucked last year too, and for the same reason Jones did: He was playing hurt. I think we will see both of these guys return to their 2007 level, or better, if they stay healthy this season.

James Jones is lucky if he's the 4th WR.

Jordy is 3, Martin could be 4th if Jones continues dropping balls. Yeah, Jordy's catch % is higher than Jones. Jones may have more yards but that's cuz of getting the ball thrown his way. The bottom line is when Jordy is thrown the ball, he catches it.

Jones is a much better receiver. I think he know that he has to battle for that third spot and in the near future 2nd spot on the team. He'll come in healthy and take command of the number three receiver. Nelson is good, but not great. we'll see those two go after that #3. Jones starts the season as the Green Bay Packers #3 receiver.

Yes, I too enjoyed "The Hurdle" by Henderson, but Green was incredibly fun to watch catching balls out of the backfield.

I didn't blame Jordy Nelson for not going over the middle. I just pointed out that he didn't do it very often. Of course the coaches call the plays. But I do think it's likely that if they called so few plays for him to go over the middle, they had their doubts about that aspect of his game. I expect to see him using the middle of the field a lot more often this year. But until he actually does it successfully, it's only natural to question his ability to do it.

I allways thought that the main reason Jordy was drafted was because he had soft hands and was a though, middle of the field receiver. He wasn't known as a speed receiver, but more of a slot receiver, that can get the ball and take the hit. I agree: he can be great, if used properly

You're being awfuly unfair to Jordy. His routes were the product of the plays called for his position in the scheme, not due to some unwillingness on his part to go over the middle. Take a look at his return work during the preseason - the kid is not afraid to go into traffic. I think fans, if anything, don't realize how good Jordy is and can be...

I miss more Henderson catching the ball than Green. He allways broke the first tackle. Go for the feet? He jumps. Go for the head? He runs over you... I hope Johnson can be like this.

We need a running back to start catching some balls too. When's the last time we ran an effective screen play? I miss an Ahman Green screen something fierce. The running backs getting involved in the passing game has been severely lacking.

Greg,

You can't blame Nelson for running only sideline patterns. He just runs what the coaches tell him to. I think you will see him more involved this year, unless James Jones lives up to his potential and grabs the #3 spot. Either way, we have a good 3rd receiver. As for using the tight ends, that was an area that was certainly neglected last year. Especially inside the five yard line. The TE needs to be a touchdown-producing weapon down there.
