Nice points, but here is my concern. Pickett is a decent Nose tackle and Jenkins is the Ideal size for a DE, but who will play the other side? Furthermore, do you really think Montegomery and Thompson can make the transiton to OLB. Harrell? I gave up on him back in November. I wouldn't be surprised if he gets cut before the season. not really stoked on Holly being the other end and then there's cole who looks like he wants out of GB.

RBC made a good point the other day that we're probably going to make 4+ picks on the front 7 and boy am I all for it.

With who we have I am not a fan of haynesworth. Where do you put him? Pickett already has NT and will haynesworth wana play DE-- probably not. Peppers. He's a little undersized for a DE but he could make it work. OLB tho-- way oversized. Then there's Suggs from the Ravens. Imagine him and Kampman at OLB. Of the three Suggs is the best pick-up. There are some other 3-4 sized DEs that are available.

"It’s only okay not to do any additional signings
(1) if we already have what we need (not the case)
(2) We’ll fill out gaps entirely in the draft
(3) there was no one available for the positions we’re in need of (not the case)."

While I think we need a little more depth along the Dline, is FA the only way to fill that gap?

Jolly, Pickett, Jenkins are more than capable enough to anchor the line.. Jolly and Harrell are questions marks, so we should have some protection in the event that either can't play.

But does that mean it has to be a free agent? I wouldn't be surprised if it is a first day pick in the lines to Jerry, Raji, or another DT or heavy end prospect. If they need a spot filled, it would be NT, Pickett might be able to play it but we still need depth there.. but what is out there at the position that would be a significant upgrade? Haynesworth? If I am a GM, there is no way I touch Haynesworth at the money he is going to get paid.. there is a reason that the Titans have been weary of locking him up.. once the money has been committed will he play up to his potential? Very Questionable.

So back to point, that makes me believe that we will draft a DT or two in the draft, maybe early and a OT prospect or two..

We need ILB that can shed blocks and play tough in the box, a NT to start or rotate heavily and seriously look at solidifying the oline.

People are clamoring for a prime FA to be signed are probably going to be disappointed.. I think that the economy may help us in that endevour if it reflects MLB, being that the second tier of FA might be a little more cost value incentive than in past years... but I just don't see us anchoring big guaranteed money one year removed from questions with the CBA, the economy concerns eating at our reserves and track history of being cost based on signing free agents.

One or two lower level signings is my guess... guys that fit a particular concern.

He could've at least made those guys all move up to the front. I agree that Dom is bigger than any free agent we could've signed, and he doesn't even count against the salary cap.

Not sure if I agree with new DC will blow up any free agent out of the water thinking..

While getting Dom is a HUGE upgrade, still need the talent level there...

Case in point..

Steve Mariucci in Frisco

Steve Mariucci in Detroit
