Packers outside linebacker Frank Zombo, who broke his scapula early in training camp, was back on the practice field this afternoon. Wearing what head coach Mike McCarthy termed "protective gear" (which looked suspiciously like football pads) Zombo worked mostly on individual drills.
Also returning to practice after a week off due to an injured kidney was running back Ryan Grant.
McCarthy, meeting with reporters after practice, also updated the status of right tackle Bryan Bulaga. McCarthy said that Bulaga is "ready to go" but that the team doctors are still being cautious. Saying there needed to be a "level of trust" between the player and the medical staff, it sounds like Bulaga will be brought along slowly. There's a chance the second year player out of Iowa could practice later in the week.
Also not participating in practice were cornerback Charles Woodson, linebacker Clay Matthews, receiver Donald Driver, tight end Andrew Quarless and defensive end Mike Neal. (Obviously, safety Nick Collins also did not participate.)
