Zach Kruse, A CheeseheadTV Introduction

Meet the newest blogger here at Cheesehead TV

Let me preface this post by letting you know that introductions may be the hardest things in the world to write. By trade, writers like to talk about other people and things; at least for me, when the tables are turned and I have to talk about myself, it's an uncomfortable feeling.

With that in mind, I'll keep this intro short and sweet:

-I'm 23 years old. Still just a baby.

-Grew up near Menomonie, WI, which is about a half hour west of Eau Claire and an hour east of the Twin Cities. Graduated from the expansive high school known as Boyceville High, with a grand total of 75 in my class. And yes, my school colors were purple and white.

-Went to UW-Madison after graduating in 2006. Studied economics and history for five years. Hated economics, loved history. Should have done journalism like I wanted to as a freshman. State Street Brats, Wando's and Church Key are just a few alternate names for heaven.

-Have been a Packers fans since I remember existing on this planet. As a seven-year-old, I was memorizing stats of those wearing green and gold. The bond between youngster and team was set in stone when my dad took me down to Dallas to watch the Packers' NFC Championship Game in 1996. Still believe the Packers were the better team that day.

-Wrote game recaps during English class in high school after almost every Packers game, which, after a while, spawned my interest in sports writing. Stumbled upon Bleacher Report in 2008 when the company was still in its infant stages, and it became my platform for writing about the Packers. I met a fellow writer there— you know him as the world renowned Jersey Al Bracco—and he offered me a spot at AllGreenBayPackers.com last spring as I was starting to pursue writing more seriously. I graciously accepted. I owe Al all the thanks in the world for the opportunity he granted me.

-I also cover prep sports for The Dunn County News, a small newspaper in Menomonie. Four high schools, nothing major.

-You can follow me on Twitter @zachkruse2. Still trying to grow my brand there.

-Let me be very clear: I have no intention of trying to fill the shoes Mr. Nagler left me here at CheeseheadTV. He's a legend, I'm a nobody. Someday, I hope to have the influence he currently holds on the wonderful community of the Packers blogosphere. That day is a long ways off. Besides, I only have size 10.5 feet.

-In conclusion: I can't wait to provide you with Packers coverage. There will be ups. There will be downs. I'll stick with you the entire way. It will be an honor to serve you.

If there's anything else you want to know, ask me in the comments. It's going to be a fun ride.

Zack, will you still be writing for allgreenbaypackers.com as well, or will you be exclusively here on cheeseheadtv.com now?

rueben or patty melt?

beer cheese soup or chili?

fish fry or fish fry?

fried cheese curds or funnel cake?

merkts and hard pretzels or salami and sliced cheddar?

we know where your football alliances lie - the only other things that matter are food.

(hint:it is appropriate to answer any of these questions with a simple "yes, please.")

Some of these are good questions, but the patty melt v. reuben? C'mon! It's always the reuben and never the patty melt -- ground beef belongs in a bun when in sandwich form.

Welcome Zach - looking forward to reading your stuff.

Welcome Zach, have followed your work on Jersey Al's site, good stuff. You make some good points that otherwise go unnoticed, and your writing is always a nice read, has a personable style. You might be a baby but your writing doesn't suggest it. My uncle has a lake cabin near Spooner & I've driven through Menomonie a hundred times en route to visit family in the Cities. I grew up in Two Rivers, over near the Hallowed Ground. Funny how you got your start where Nagler is "moving on" to, most of the stuff on BR is crap, but Nagler's a smart guy & I'm sure its a wise career move on his part. Again, welcome and thanks for your good work.
