Wisconsin Pro Day Results

Results from the University of Wisconsin's pro day event, which featured John Clay and Lance Kendricks running the 40.

MADISON––Most of the players invited to the NFL Combine stood on their results: offensive linemen Gabe Carimi and John Moffitt, quarterback Scott Tolzien.

Having a poor Combine, running back John Clay participated in most drills.

Tight end Lance Kendricks and cornerback Niles Brinkley participated in the 40, but didn't seem to do many other measured drills.

All of them took part in position drills.

I didn't have a chance to get times on everyone, but I'll share what I have. Most players ran two 40s. For some of them, I only got one time...

  • Running back John Clay: 4.54
  • Tight end Lance Kendricks: 4.40
  • Wide receiver Kyle Jefferson: 4.45, 4.46
  • Wide receiver Maurice Moore: 4.38, 4.33
  • Offensive lineman Bill Nagy: 5.08
  • Linebacker Blake Sorenson: 4.65, 4.55
  • Safety Jay Valai: 4.60, 4.66
  • Wide receiver Issac Anderson: 4.31
  • Cornerback Niles Brinkley: 4.40
  • Wide receiver David Gilreath: 4.38
  • Linebacker Culmer St. Jean pulled up lame

I used a hand-timed stopwatch. Certainly I'm no scout, but I was a track and field coach for seven years, so I know my way around a stop watch. I would assume my times are a little faster than normal as most hand-timed events are.

Because of Clay's poor performance at the Combine, people paid a little more attention to him. I turned to Rivals.com's Tom Lea who had Clay at 4.68.  Jim Polzin of the Wisconsin State Journal said he heard Clay ran 4.73 to 4.77. Clay himself said he ran in the low 4.6s. So you can make of that what you will.

In the 225-pound bench press...

  • Anderson: 13 reps
  • Clay: 19
  • Gilreath: 6
  • Moore: 17
  • Nagy: 26
  • Sorenson: 22
  • St. Jean: 30
  • Valai: 21

Somehow I don't see Clay as much of a prospect but I wouldn't mind seeing Carimi in Green and Gold.
