Weekend Packer Videos

Thought I’d post some vids we found this week at Packer Video.
What better way to start than a little walk through Packer history with this montage.

EA Sports does it again. Free advertising from CHTV for their cool NFC North Madden 10 trailer.

More videos from this week:

  • Adam Schein of FoxSports thinks Aaron Rodgers will lead the Packers to the playoffs.
  • Drew Smith of Fox 11 takes a look back to see which stars of the Family Night scrimmage became stars in the NFL.
  • Aaron Rodgers interview at the ESPY’s

Has anyone had a chance to play the new Madden 10 demo yet? Looks pretty great, a number of big improvements over 09 and visually the whole thing looks great.

A CHTV online dynasty would be fantastic as long as we could get everyone to choose a team to play other than the Packers.

Shootz – downloaded and played last night. It looks absolutely stunning. Play seems a bit slow, but then it always does when it’s new…

They actually slowed it down this year. It became an Arcade-fest blistering speed game rather than a strategic game. I love the speed change.

Does anyone else get annoyed with Adam Shein’s voice? I like what he has to says, but his voice gets to me.

    8. Shootz says:

Two things with the speed, they found that when they’d make changes to an individual animation (a QB’s drop-back, for example, because there’d been a problem with D-lineman surging and sacking too often) it would inadvertently affect the way the game would play in another way and so they’d have to fix that problem and so on. As a result, the game’s overall speed got too fast and too unrealistic and so they’ve scaled everything back to make it more realistic and a better playing experience (put much better here: http://insideblog.easports.com.....l-10.aspx). Secondly, there’s an in-game slider to adjust game speed so you can crank it back up if you liked the old style or you can slow it right down if you’re having trouble and right now the demo is set on the slowest possible speed. So, the final product will be faster than what’s on offer now but you’ll be able to bring it back to that if you choose.

I think the slower speed is good because it allows you to see the holes in the run game much easier and you can actually get down to your third read on a blitz without having to drop back forty steps. It’s a bit too easy to avoid tacklers and to see your receivers get covered and uncovered so I look forward to playing it at normal pace, I think there’s a good chance they’ve struck a good balance. I really like the new features like the rumbling quarterback clock, I think that’s a smart use of the feature, and receivers and DB’s jostling for position is really neat and realistic. I find my guys getting knocked off their routes or just plain knocked down a lot more often and it forces you to look for other guys out there in that half second of panic you have when Witten’s not where he’s supposed to be.

I’m looking forward to the full product to get more in depth with some of the other changes like short, medium and long passing ratings, Wildcat formations, team-specific playbook calls (i.e. teams will actually be run-first teams and whatnot) and the updates to franchise mode.

Adam Schein’s voice sounds like a chihuahua breaking in a new chew toy.

Also going to give a plug to the 90th birthday trivia contest on packers.com– a 20 day trivia contest. All the answers can be found in the history section of the site. It’s pretty amazing how well documented the past 90 years are. It will keep you info-tained for a while
