Walden Released On Bond
The Packers linebacker was released from Brown County jail this afternoon and is due to appear back in court on Wednesday, December 7th.
By PackerAaron
From Ty Dunne, of the Milwaukee Journal Sentinel:
Walden's signature bond set at $1000, will revisit case Dec 7.
D.A. says victim said she hit Walden first and Walden was defending himself. Conflicts w/initial report.
Walden's release means he will be able to join the team for practice this week and will be able to participate in Sunday's game against the New York Giants, pending any team discipline that may yet arise from the incident.

Justice served! I suppose it just took her awhile to remember what actually happened after she bumped her head on the bed.

Walden needs to keep her on a leash.

"....she hit Walden first and Walden was defending himself."
Tale of the tape:
Erik Walden - 6'2" 250 lbs., bench presses 225 lbs. 25 times at his pro day.
Anonymous girlfriend - likely 5' nothing, 100 nothing lbs.
Good thing he defended himself.

What was she trying to hit him with?
He may now be protecting her from assault with a vase, lamp, wrench IDK,but I'm thinking it wasn't just an impending second slap to the face.
November 28, 2011 at 08:42 pm
You're thinking this based on what? That, and a man of his stature couldn't simply disarm her? He needed to make certain she stayed down for his safety? Sure.....
November 29, 2011 at 04:26 am
So you know what did happen and he's guilty simply because of his stature.
Where did the,He needed to make certain she stayed down for his safety come from, geez, she wasn't found unconcious.
November 29, 2011 at 03:46 pm
"she wasn't found unconscious"
And you know this, how? Authorities were contacted 3 hours after the incident, from the hospital. Only Walden and his girlfriend were there to know whether she was or wasn't conscious.
Ever hit your head hard enough to get 4 stitches? Blunt force, even on a 'bed post', to the head sure makes you woozy.
Geez...

A rare treat, a police car jpg.

The fact it was only a 1000 dollar bond should be indicative of the plea deal that will eventually occur. I do believe the packers should punish him as this is a stain on the organization. Force him into anger management at the very least
November 28, 2011 at 05:44 pm
Why in the name of all that makes a modicum of sense should he be punished for defending himself? I challenge you to let someone (even IF s/he is 5 feet tall and 100 pounds weight) slap or punch you in the face, w/o your making an effort to defend yourself. How about this: Let's wait to see what comes out in court.

Where did I say he should be punished?
November 28, 2011 at 05:54 pm
Of course he should be punished by the Packers because, regardless of guilt, he is making the organization look bad. Even if he did not doing anything wrong he still put himself in the position to make the team look bad.

By living with a woman? They have two kids.
November 28, 2011 at 06:09 pm
The first two points I made were beyond your grasp so let me try this again. Erik Walden represents the Packers as he is a player on the team. By being involved in a fight, even if he was just defending himself, he made the packers organization look bad.
Instead of leaving the house/apartment or calling the cops when he was attacked he fought back (according to the alleged victim). Walden managed to injure the woman bad enough where she had to go to the hospital and the injuries looked severe enough were the doctors felt obligated to contact the police. So in the end we have a battered woman who may or may not have fallen down the stairs or attacked Walden depending on various reports. Either way we have a woman that was injured during an argument and possible fight with Walden. Tell me how this makes the packers look good.
Note that I am not saying he is guilty of domestic violence or should he go to jail. I am saying that the packers organization should punish him for making the team look bad as it reflects poorly when players get into violent arguments with their spouses.

I was with you in the beggining but since it was the hospital that called authorities and not his wife it can be a misunderstanding, and with that possibility the Packers can't do and shouldn't do anything till and if he's found guilty.
While this somewhat brings a negative status to the Packers' name, based on the current evidences, there was nothing Walden couldn't done to prevent it, and he is not responsible for it. You can't punish someone for being in a messed up relationship.

If I had a dollar for every time the media reported as fact things that were incorrect, I could retire. To really get a feel for cases like this you need to see all the statements of all the folks involved, then you can start to sort out the b.s. The dribble by dribble way that this story has come out does nothing to increase my confidence that anything we think we know right now is reliable. I know I'm asking too much, but please everyone, do not judge this thing.

I know, I don't work in criminal justice but close friends do. In fact, down here we have a "women's delegacy", and back in college a friend worked as an intern.
As you know, guilt isn't necessary for the league to take actions. But my point is, if there's the possibility that Walden never did anything wrong (this is a different case than with Roethlisberger, when the girl called the police), then the Packers shouldn't take any actions.
For what's worth, I'm still not convinced that Walden wasn't guilty, the woman changing her statement doesn't do anything to dissuade me, but what I or anyone believe doesn't matter.
November 28, 2011 at 11:28 pm
There seems to be some diverging facts about the incident.
The initial report was that she called the cops after being treated at the hospital. A later report claims it was the hospital who called the police.
This will likely get dismissed because of what the victim is saying right now and we will likely never know the full truth. I doubt the DA will want to fight the uphill battle of this.
But I stand by what I said when the news of this first came out. They'd both be better off with some counseling. Something's off when a domestic dispute leads one of the parties to the hospital.

"...because of what the victim is saying right now and we will likely never know the full truth."
The funny thing is that we never really do. There is the truth. Then there is what you know to be true. Then there is what you think to be true. Then there is what you can prove in court, which judging by the number of folks exonerated by DNA evidence, is not saying as much as it should.
And then there is the modern media, who are constantly seeking out new stories to sell, often based upon fact, and are sometimes even credible.
The law is a human endeavor, and is fallible. It just tends to be more accurate (or at least more orderly) and fair than the alternatives. The alternatives being lynch mobs and random violent reprisals. See the Hatfields v. the McCoys. Or Somalia. Or the Latin Kings v. the Vice Lords.

This gives me the perfect opportunity to show off!

If Walden indeed did do something untoward, then I hope he gets help or she gets help and/or the kids get help. Justice should be served.
It's just that this sort of thing gets politicized.
November 28, 2011 at 06:51 pm
Haha, nice graphic. That's a keeper.
November 29, 2011 at 12:09 am
You people need to lay off the Law and order... That's right, you people.
She hit him, he defended himself, that's what I'm rolling with unless something new comes to light. And throw out the tale of the tape, if somebody, male or female is attacking you, you have every right to see that it stops, if that means she bumps her head... Maybe she shouldn't be punching a 250 lb pro athlete. Just a thought. This idea that men should just sit back and get slapped is garbage... You're a grown woman... THINK! Channeling Chris Rock, better Go.

Given the size disparity I would venture that if he was only defending himself she would probably have some bruises in her wrists, but again, like Kendra said, it's all just too inconclusive and quite frankly nobody is interested in this continuing...
November 29, 2011 at 03:05 pm
Maybe she was swinging a frying pan, he put his hand up to block it and it bounced back and hit her. We don't know.
November 29, 2011 at 03:42 pm
Here's what I don't get. If he hit her first, charges will be filed. If she hit him, NOT SO MUCH.
Have you seen the DA video at JSO?
That is just flat out messed up.

Other highlights: No alcohol was involved.
They cut the video right when the reporter asks about mandatory reporting. What's up with that?

So, what in the hell is your point? The system is rigged against men?
Outside of challenges surrounding custody laws and possibly child support what system on the planet earth doesn't favor men?

Congress, SCOTUS, POTUS, local and regional municipalities, school boards, board of directors on for-profit/not-for-profit corporations.... name the leadership or governance structure and it's almost entirely male driven.
Religions are patriarchal, wealth accumulation almost entirely resides with men. Heads of households (polled decision makers) are almost entirely male.
Tell me more about the feigned inequity in your world.
Tell me more about the challenges for males, especially white males in society?
This isn't the dumbest concept on this thread, it's among the dumbest notion posted on the entire internet today.

Not sure what your point is, or how any of it is relevant to the matter at hand.
