Vitt Takes Over as Saints Interim Coach

Former Packers assistant Joe Vitt has been named the interim head coach of the New Orleans Saints for the 2012 season while Sean Payton is suspended effective Apr. 16, announced Saints general manager Mickey Loomis on Thursday.

Vitt will be suspended, too, for the first six games of the regular season starting in September for his part in the Saints bounty program. Loomis said the Saints will decide a new interim coach at some point during training camp.

Vitt was a member of the Packers coaching staff in 1999 under Ray Rhodes.
